Can anyone check if Android Auto and/or CarPlay uses the display in front of the steering wheel to display any info (eg where Navigation is displayed on Trophy models)

Is it different on SE v Trophy?

I am hoping for 73 reg car, anyone can suggest when to order?

On the Trophy the small display can show what music is playing from android auto, including album artwork. Nothing from google maps, not sure about other navigation apps.

If you have the main display in AA to display music, does it then display maps/next turn on the smaller display?

It would be nice to have that option but unfortunately nothing for the google navigation on the small screen. Whatever's happening on the main screen doesn't affect the small screen; it's purely controlled from the steering wheel buttons.

It's strikes me that people are getting very fussy about what they want and the tiniest thing can prompt them to spend an extra 10k just to get that.
(They then of course find out that there are other things on the more expensive item that aren't perfect as well.)

Maybe listen to the voice instructions instead of turning eyes away from the road and looking at the directions, just a suggestion.

If the AA implementation is as per usual then the turns should appear as popups (and also in the bottom bar) in the AA screen if you have media playing (via AA), or the media will appear at the bottom of the navigation screen.

Same as what my current car does with AA.

Same for me. Ordered the MG4 in the end, as I couldn't justify the 30%+ extra for kia or Renault. I am sure they are better when it comes to infotainment and interior quality, but beside that MG seems on par or better.

I didn’t want to start another thread for my question, so I thought this would be the best place to ask it.

I have a pay-as-you-go Tesco Nokia smartphone and was wondering if I connect it to the infotainment (SE LR) screen via a USB cable, will I be able to use Android Auto and Google maps navigation? I have never used AA before, so I’ve no idea if this is feasible. At present I just use my smart phone to play MP3 files via Bluetooth, but I’m hoping once my MG4 is delivered I’ll get more use out of my smartphone. Any advice appreciated.

Have you got AA on your phone to start with? If not go to play store and download it. Then yes you can get Google maps and a few other apps when you pair it with the car,

Is it an Android phone? As above, you need to be able to load AA onto it for AA to work with the car.

Thanks guys! Yes, it is an Android phone and it came with AA pre-installed.

Then it should just work ... you'll need to accept some permissions first on the phone most likely.

It will also use a fair bit of data while you are moving around to download maps and keep local traffic updated.
