Not doing badly at all when you consider it not being treated that well and does a lot of Rapid charging. As we know battery SoH 92% is fantastic. There a few taxi drivers around here who swear by them.

James openly admits that these vehicles receive a hard life with the minimum amount of attention, purely down to the heavy work load they conduct.
Not only are they covering star ship mileage, they are doing it fully ladened five days a week, every week.
No doubt they are receiving a fair amount of rapid charging on route as well.
Their heavy usage pattern is a good testament to how the car is holding up after covering 120,000 miles.
The traction battery SOH at 92% is amazing.
You have too question if the engine / gearbox and drive train of an ICE model, would stand up to this type of punishment over 120,000 miles.
A huge cost saving comparison between the EV and fossil fuel model I would think, if you also take in the servicing costs associated to an ICE model also.
No wonder they are SO popular for taxi hire.

Indeed! My wife and I spent the day in Cambridge yesterday. I've never seen so many MG5s in one city at the same time, and the majority were taxis, both Facelift and Pre-Facelift.

I was in Cleevely EVs yesterday for a quick browse of their available cars for sale and I mentioned this video, they told me they now have 5 MG5s for the mobile servicing and highly recommended them. None for sale there yesterday though.

Would charging be a business expense, vat reclaimable, plus many of there customers allow them a quick charge up while servicing there vehicles on the drive.

I don't think that that is right. My experience would be that if you accepted the manufacturers claims for petrol fuel consumption against the worst possible case for an EV they might come out about the same.

Having followed his channel for a while now, I know he is very offered to charge at he address of many of the customers that he visits.
He charges from home if he conducting fairly local calls, plus when he has to stay over, he tries to pick accommodations that offer the FOC chargers included.
The service intervals come around really quickly when you are covering the milage he is going.
Yes the labour costs maybe free for James, but the materials like oil / filters etc have to be paid for on a fossil car, over an EV.

And James agrees in this video mainly he’s showing some of the things that can go wrong with Teslas.

I had the old one, now have the new. I'll admit being quite nostalgic about my first one! Was a damn good car.

I have one of the old ones and I have to say I find the appearance quite acceptable and the instruments and controls are great . Real knobs and buttons and not stupid touch screen controls.
I note that ENCAP are revising the rules and acceptance regarding touch screen controls "v" sensible egonomic switches and controls for critical car controls such as lighting indicators etc.

On safety ground they have now realised that diving into multiple menus on a touch screen to alter things like heating controls may be a safety risk. Shortly many cars such as the Tesla and many others will have their ENCAP safety rating reduced.

Whilst I have to concede that the Trophy is an upgrade on the SR I had before, the HVAC controls are a step back. Placing any vehicle related interaction on a touchscreen, let alone essential controls, is a serious safety issue and can potentially leave many drivers unfairly at risk of driving without due care and attention

I don't agree. I set the HVAC to the temperature that I want and leave it alone. The only control I need is the screen demist, which has its own button.

Unfortunately, different strokes for different folks. I generally have mine off, and only interact with it when I need to put it on, eg to demist. When that needs arises, I want to do it by muscle memory without being distracted, something I could do in my SR. I have had to represent several people in court who have been prosecuted for causing accidents because their attention was elsewhere, occasionally exacerbated by the additional problem that older people sometimes have, namely eyesight that means reading the screen requires glasses that they don't need for driving. The sooner NCAP addresses this, the better.

I'm in both camps here so have to agree with both of you.

I only have the heating/AC on if it's needed. Most of the time I'm happy with how the car is, I like to have a window open at low speed sometimes so pointless having HVAC on then.
On the other hand when I do have it on I like it at what I like it. It totally bemuses me that some people in winter have their heating set really high and in summer set to freezing ?‍ Mine is set to 21 degrees all year round - when on.

It is true that there is a switch to turn HVAC on or off, which is good. However, this is only good if you have it set correctly in the first place. Even then, if you turn it off, you have to go back into settings to turn off recirculation. Turning on the heated seats requires you to use the screen and if moving, one finds the button to be very small and difficult to hit. This is a significant step back from the pre-facelift.
