Hello every one from Greece. I want to buy the new mg3 hybrid but i am not sure about the reliability of the car. I know that the model is very new and it might have some issues but I have second thoughts…. What is your opinion about the mg3 how do you feel it on the road and what is that bothers you most with the car?

I've test driven one twice now and was very impressed both times, currently have a bmw and an audi and was surprised how well it stood up to these. Actually felt it drove better than the audi. Place an order for a trophy on Sunday. For the money I don't think you'll get a better more equipped car and I'm now looking forward to saving lots of £ a month on my payments ?

I have a vw polo which I want to sell because I want an automatic transmission. I am tired of manual transmission…My first option was the Yaris hybrid but there is a big delay on the delivery day (April 2025)!!! I’ve test driven the mg3 and I was very surprised. I like it a lot but Iam not sure about the reliability of the car…??maybe because it’s made in china??

Hi. I have owned the Toyota Yaris and I now own the Mg3+hybrid. The MG outshines the Yaris in most ways, There is more room, drives beautiful and is cheaper. I have had my MG for 2.5 months now and I’m finding it hard to find fault with it. I liked the front style of the Yaris slightly more, but in every other way I prefer the MG3+hybrid.

I'm not worried about the reliability so much myself, in all honesty, nobody can really answer that question at the moment, and the warranty should cover any major issues. What is slightly worrying is the higher than average servicing cost here in the UK, it may be different in Greece, but here we're looking at around £2k to cover the first 4 services.

Thank you for your reply. So you believe that mg3 is better than Yaris?

The first 4 services in Greece is around 800-1000 pounds. I don’t know why in uk is so expensive ?

The MG3 Hybrid+ drives quite nice on the road, it is quite quick off the mark and quite responsive but low-speed manoeuvring is a bit bad, I live on a steep hill and the drive is also a hill at 90° to the road and the transition to the drive from the road is in EV mode and the motor doesn't seem to know how to do it, it is very hesitant and a bit unnerving, it is very clunky too when I come out of park sometimes.

I'm finding that setting off slowly in reverse is not easy and the brakes (newness maybe) are still very grabby after 200+ miles

Fuel consumption isn't anywhere near 60mpg, nearer 40-45mpg.

I don’t have any of the problems you describe. I’ve done 1400 miles in mine. I am getting 57.5 mpg.
I'm happy for you Ann, I hope it sorts itself out as it is depressing to buy a new car and it is not as good as it should be, I admit to being critical, it is a cheap car I didn't expect it to be like a £50k car but it isn't doing things it should be doing, a great drive though.

Maybe the MPG will come up when we get more miles on it but the boss gets better mpg than I do and she puts her foot down, than I do in eco driving steadily, using 2 regen etc.

I have just completed 1500 miles in ours and getting pretty much the same mpg. The only things l have found issues with are the auto lights don’t work in heavy rain ( my previous car did) and the auto wipers are sometimes slow to operate. Driving wise no complaints at all.

Thank you all for your response!!
the thing is that I am doing a lot of miles every month so the reliability for me is very important. I love that has a powerful engine the consumption is pretty good and has rear vents for the rear passengers. really important for me because the summer in Athens is very very hot.
I don’t know how you can listen music via usb stick and also have apple car -google maps together….

I have a thumb drive in mine it goes in the left hand USB A socket below the dash in front to the cup holders, where you would need to plug in your phone for car play, but if you have a large enough SD car in your phone you can put the music onto that and have both, I'm not sure if you can use the USB C socket for that, but there is also the option of using an FM modulator via the cigarette lighter socket, it would then play via the radio so three options for playing music.

One tip get a cable as short as will reach if you can I got a coiled up type so it's not dangling all over the place, but you can buy ones like this too and be really tidy.

The USB C socket should be usable for a simple USB C thumbdrive loaded with music, thus leaving the USB A socket available for Android Auto / Apple CarPlay. :)

Hmm!! we filled ours up on Wednesday, and I had absolutely no idea how much was in it (no fuel gauge ???) the dealer said they had put some in, I just topped it up but the dash said I had 330 ish miles to empty, not sure I trust the software on this car yet.
