Couldn't find mention of servicing in the service manual.
Has anybody discovered what they do during these services and just why they are so expensive? It will be three years before I get to the first service mileage of 15K!

Have today found out my first service at my MG main dealer will take 1/2 hour at £156/hour and cost £173.08. Checking MG's 'Maintenance Checksheet' I see all that will be replaced at the first annual service (15K mls) are the engine oil (4 litres) & filter. (No other filters) I will have only done about 5k mls. Apparently this is their low mileage charge for this service. What is going on?

Checking online I see Castrol can do 4 litres of engine oil for MG ZS SUV Castrol EDGE 0W-20 V Engine Oil 4L @ £47.99 free delivery. Apparently Castrol EDGE 0W-20 V is suitable for gasoline and diesel vehicles with ACEA C5 0W-20 recommendations.
Also noticed the Valvoline equivalent for 5 litres was just £39.96
So the oil isn't out of this world at all. To me it looks like some sharp practice going on.
Any thoughts on this?

I had a look at taking out a service plan for an MG3 through the MG website. Services are required every 15000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first. The costs for each yearly service varies and the prices are shown. The cost of year 4 service is £940. I don't know what they do to the car to justify that price but it won't bother me as the price of these cars is so low I will just trade it in for another one. That also depends on trade-in values not dropping through the floor.

Yes I have a thought!!! They give us a 7 year warranty and then over the 7 years charge us to maintain and pay for the parts so that nothing goes wrong and then they seem like saints.... like they are giving us something special...NOT. What a joke!!

The salesperson told me we could get it serviced anywhere, but I doubt the truth of that as it is part EV and a lot of garages will not have the technology, knowledge or equipment to do it.

The service dept told me the same thing. They said the servicing garage have to have access to the MG platform online which they have to pay for to register the service. Halfords do MG services, I don't know how much they charge but it can't be that expensive. I will probably get the 1st one with MG and then find another garage. I do 30,000 miles a year so the 4th service for me will only after only 2yrs.

I believe that's just the Owner's Manual Ann, not the Service Manual (which appears to be still available).

I believe the Service manual is also digital on app, showing date when required and history.

In fact, there is a digital manual available on the console, the one supplied by MG motors PDF and also... the one supplied by the MGSMART application.
If you look closely at these 3 versions, you'll see that they're not identical, but rather complement each other.

I think you haven't seen what was in the service manual attached in first post, and you're talking about something else
The one I'm talking about was describing all the service procedures and instructions, it was like service manual for workshops, not a standard car manual.

There are two links in the first post.

The first returns a 404 error and is inaccessible.

The second is available and corresponds to the user manual and includes little about maintenance (no maintenance plan etc).
I also have it in French.

Have I missed something?
