Having done 2.5k miles it seems to have no rhyme or reason to what we are running in at any given time.

I can have my foot on the brake approaching a red light and the engine revs up.

When driving at a constant speed on level ground, it is forever hunting for the right gear & in and out of EV.

Hmm, nobody knows it seems.

Another thing I noticed on the last FROSTY morning, you cannot rev the engine unless it's in D or R so you cannot hasten the heater into action, so you either get out with a scraper or die waiting for the screen to clear, the fiesta had a heated screen, God bless Ford :D :D

I've more or less got the car sorted now, in Navigation just turned it all to visual only no more bongs except if I go over the limit the car thinks we're in, I swipe down to stop the ELK if I remember of course, and keep my foot covering the brake and the gas when on ACC as it sees ghosts a lot, it's so bad she won't let me use it unless on a motorway.

I'm with you there, Kev. Nearly all my previous motors had heated screens. Don't know which is worse...shivering in your heated seat until the heater,( on HI), throws out a smidgeon of warmish air, or waiting for the screen to defrost. Worst heating system since my last old banger, although must admit, once it gets going it's very good.

I think that the engine revving when driving slowly or at a stop, is when it is generating more power for the battery. If the battery is full, it does not do that.

When driving at a constant speed, the variations are down to it prioritising economy and searching for its most efficient running and the more depleted the battery is, the more hunting it does, as it tries to top up the battery and drive the car at the same time.

IME, the engine does more hunting when it is very cold and after it is started when the battery could do with more charging.

Use the ismart app, 10 mins car defrosted and nice and warm.

I can't see how to do that on the App. can you give me a Dummies guide to do it please.
Click on the button at bottom right of screen to open the ac screen.

Then set the temp and you will get a confirm screen or you can press the bottom right hand button to get the confirm screen if the temp is already showing what you want. If you want to heat the seats that will trigger a confirm screen as well. To confirm you either need to enter the pin code or use finger print.

Perhaps retreating to ICE vehicles will bring a return to your comfort zone. I have no concerns, as described above. Learn the car, and how it operates.

This is the main confirm screen, if you can't see it all, the font scaling on your phone is too large and needs reducing.

Highway Code Rule 123;

"You MUST NOT leave a parked vehicle unattended with the engine running or leave a vehicle engine running unnecessarily while that vehicle is stationary on a public road. Generally, if the vehicle is stationary and is likely to remain so for more than a couple of minutes, you should apply the parking brake and switch off the engine to reduce emissions and noise pollution. However it is permissible to leave the engine running if the vehicle is stationary in traffic or for diagnosing faults."
