Hi everyone

Happy festive season

I just wanted to ask what rapid charging speed people are seeing on the pfl 5

Mine tops out around 50kW these days but used to get up to 75+.

Doesn’t seem to matter what charger, seems to be since I had the Tesla update, though it may also be the current colder weather.

Just interested

Mine is about 49kW at my nearest 50kW in the last few weeks but there aren't many rapids over 50kW in my neck of the woods.
I was a little concerned in September when I used a couple of Gridserve Chargers ( both 60 kW) and one gave me 36 kW and the the other 26kW  .

Don't fast charge often, but when I do I normally see 50 kW ± 5, fastest I have seen is 84kW (summer) but didn't monitor so have no idea how long it charged at that speed!

Facelift here, so not entirely relevant, but I've been topping out at about 55kW including recently when battery heating was on for over 40 minutes before. Car Scanner said the highest cell temperatures were a mere 15°C. I heard it only heats to 10°C anyway so I'm not even sure it did anything, but it's disappointing that it won't heat to near ideal charging temperatures.

The heater won’t ‘fire’ unless the cell temperatures are below 10°C (ish), so you're probably correct, leaving it on for 40min didn’t do anything…

In the peak of summer, I've fleetingly seen 90kW. I don't seem to get close to that in winter though, sadly.

21 plate SR; best I've seen is a little over 40kW but 36kW is the norm. Perhaps it would be nice if it were quicker but to be honest never found it a problem.

I've only ever seen the higher charging speeds if the starting SOC has been rather low, I don't think I've ever seen above 50KW if I've been above 20% or so when I started the charging session.

Stupid part is if it does hit 70KW+ it will often stay that fast up-to quite a high SOC.

More of the chargers need to tell you what the limiting factor is, I know someof the kempower ones will providing the CPO hasn't disabled that feature and I think I've had a hypercharger where it was possible to see the reason for the current charging speed under session details.

I have a LR, Luxury and had charged at 80 kW (max according to specs), but not all the time. Many of the chargers here max at 50 and that is what you get. A couple of days ago (below 10 °C), started charging at 80, went down to 60 at some point, then 40 kW, then 20 when it hit 80% and 10 when entering 90% SOC. Used to be the norm, different charging speeds wrt SOC, but don't remember seeing this 80 then 60, then 40 kW before.

For science I spent about 20 minutes accelerating and decelerating at full throttle and regen yesterday (outside temperature was 7°C) before charging. Car Scanner said the cells were between 25°C and 30°C when I started, and the car charged at 83kW before slowing down along with its expected curve.

It's a balance between whiplash and charging speed.

I find it a waste of time charging above the high 80% on a rapid . Normally charge to 80ish % on a rapid, and top it off at a fast if needed
Assuming the fast actually is...

I stopped off at a motorway service area few weeks back to get some lunch, I didn't really need to charge yet but would at some point on the way back so I figured I'd give the A/C charger a try and at least get a little bit of charge.

Useless thing was only kicking out 2KW, it seems they've managed to find enough power for several ~60kw and ~350kw chargers (several of which were free) but couldn't manage 7KW for an A/C charging post?

Was it an 11kW AC charger, and were you using a single phase cable? If so, it can only give you 3kW.
