Hi All
Recently purchased brand new MG EV. Love the car but one issue I'm having is the speed limit warning displays are all wrong. E.g. Telling me the speed limit is 60 in a 100km zone. Whilst the speedometer is in km I'm thinking maybe the speed limit warnings are in miles?
Any advice appreciated

Maybe go into settings and set things for Imperial then set back to Metric? (Or however they are described in the settings)

Some EVs like MG4 sometimes read the speed limit on side turnings as the speed on the main road. I drive in 50mph road and it has side roads which are sign posted as 30mph. As I pass these roads on the main 50mph road, my MG4 shows the speed limit of the main road as 30mph. This is a well known problem with some cars and their camera positioning.

Your's may or may not be this issue. Check when the speed limit changes.

Whenever I’m on highways or freeways the car very consistently reads the speed limit signs on the off ramps. Here in Australia the system stays quiet so it’s not much of a nuisance but I believe in the EU it pings at you when it believes you are speeding? I can imagine that would get annoying real fast.

I’ve also heard about the car reading speed signs posted on the back of other vehicles (busses, trucks etc) but haven’t noticed that happening in my car yet.

It happens the other way around as well. Sometimes you go over a motorway or trunk road junction and the car thinks the speed limit is motorway even though you drive right past that turn.

It wouldn't be fit for purpose if it really did limit your speed, but thankfully it just provides an indication.

Sometimes it is handy if you suddenly wonder if you've dropped down into a lower speed zone.

There is an option for the speed limit function to be applied automatically, I tried that out once when I just got the car, but as I turned into a parking lot that had a 10 kph sign the car just slammed on the brakes to take me straight down to 10. Imagining this happening when doing 110 and the car seeing a 70 sign made me never turn that option on again. The car reverts back to cruise control every time you start anyway

I'm driving in Ireland (so km/h limits) but the car was originally UK registered. Even though the speedo etc is all set to metric, the speed limit detection seems to be confused between imperial and metric and it won't register any limit higher than 60. So if I'm on the motorway it's constantly flashing because I'm doing 100km/h and as far as it's concerned the limit is 60km/h

This is exactly the issue i am having

When I drove in France my SE SR read the speed limits according to a UK configuration, but applied the limiter as kph when the speedometer was set to kph. This was on R13
Trouble is it wasn’t recognising speed limit signs above 70kph because of its uk configuration.

On the Kia I had previously, when driving on uk roads, it sometimes read kph speed limits on the back of lorries as if they were kph. 😬

I gave up with mine and just stuck a black round sticker over the constantly flashing speed warning
Maybe a 3D printed or magnetic disk could provide a less permanent but practical solution.
A bit like the plastic covers on some webcams

Why? How would either of those help? @Yorkshire Hillbilly has put a label over the sign/symbol on the driver screen, not on the windscreen (if I've understood his post right). :)

I’m talking about a cover on the driver screen

I’m borrowing one from work. If it fits, I’ll post a picture.

Will be interesting to see, but I can't envisage how that would cover that symbol alone without blocking other items on the display. 🤷‍♂️

True. I hope it's a tight fit, else that'll be something else to add to the random rattles/noises that can occur. ;) 😂
