Not an MG
Bath MG are currently advertising the MG4 64kW Trophy brand-new at £22790 which seems like a great deal.

When I phoned them they said this price was only for people in the affinity scheme, such as military, NHS workers, police etc. From what I can figure out you can also be in the scheme if you have been in the MG owners club for a minimum of 3 months. After doing a bit of research what normally happens is that your employer effectively buys the car and takes money out of your pay packet each month meaning you don't pay tax on that pay so I'm wondering if their stated price is including that discount you have saved from not paying tax. What happens if you're just an MG Owners Club or MG Car Club member? I'm also wondering if there is another catch such as you have to buy it through their finance scheme paying 7.9% APR.

Has anyone else actually bought a car through this scheme without using the dealer's finance package? Are these deals regular? (I see others have mentioned them appearing over the last few years). Just trying to work out if I join the MG Owners Club now whether I am likely to be able to get a good deal in 3 months time. Their advert states terms and conditions apply but doesn't go into the details of what those terms and conditions are.

At that price I'd be happy with an MG4 or an MG5, much higher and I'd be looking elsewhere.

I'm fairly sure one or two members here (at least) have bought their cars via the Affinity scheme, using membership of the MG Owner's Club (not this forum!) as the basis. (Costs £50 a year - you only need to be a member at the time of making the Affinity purchase; you don't have to maintain membership as far as I know).

Happy to pay the £50 now to achieve a bigger discount, I'm wondering about how they check whether you've been a member for more than 3 months.

I've just ordered a 5 Trophy from them at lower price than that (cash purchase) but if that's their infinity/finance deal it's still pretty decent! They're running out though - a week ago someone said MG UK only have black, white & silver in stock and come the weekend, when I put pen to paper, only 8 black ones were left.

Must be pretty close to seeing the 5's replacement appearing on showroom floors...

Whoops! Getting my forums confused, apologies.... Was answering 4 question with a 5 one 😁
It was totally relevant, I am interested in buying a 4 or a 5, I like both, would need to look at each in a dealers to make a decision.

Apart from one being an estate, are there any other major differences I should be aware of? I'm veering towards the estate but I don't really know the spec differences

Have a look here for full details of the Affinity scheme:

Worth noting that :-

Eligibility is extended to:
  • Current permanent direct employees of selected Affinity partners.
  • Retired employees drawing a pension from selected Affinity partners.
  • Immediate family members of the above.

l have just looked up MG Owners club Affinity deals. Dealer was happy to do it, but the MG Owners club rules state 3months at least membership. So ok for a future deal, but not immediate effect.

You'll almost certainly get a cheaper MG4,
than the Affinity Scheme. If you shop around. X Power's for example are £31,803 on the Scheme. You can get a brand spanking new one, for between,
25 and 27 grand. I'm presuming that's the case for other MG4s. 🙂👍

Im currently looking to order an HS, but only got affinity membership this week, I am looking for delivery around start of June anyone know if dealers can pre order at affinity prices ? then when I actually collect the car I will have been a member for 4 months and therefore qualify ?

Have a good shop around first, just in case you can get one, cheaper than the Affinity scheme. And as far as I'm aware, you don't need to be a member of the Affinity scheme for any time at all. As long as you qualify, for it. 🙂👍

Oh and,

i bought on this affinity scheme. happy to answer any questions you have

i qualified as local authority employee. i just had to prove it with three bank statements. about £4k off + £1k for dest drive. the discount is just that no employer involvement

OK so looking to purchase MG HS PHEV Trophy affinity price is £31,290.
Best price currently looking around is from MG Cinderford offering the car for £29590:- Auto Trader UK - New and Used Cars For Sale

So any ideas if likely to be able to get this for any lower etc. ? list price is near enough £35K. Think my absolute max budget is £29K any thoughts on likelihood of achieving ?
Cheers
