EU MG4 (all variants) - Service campaign SC077 is out, improving lane assist performance

SC077 verdict: Lane assist better, but still annoying enough with false detections for me to still switch it off every time. ACC, better, but still Micky Mouse compared to what I'm used to. Ok for motorway use unless it's slightly busy. It is still brake happy on approaching a vehicle in front followed by a speed up again. I have tried it on all distance settings. It also seems to drop 1 mph quite a lot of the time when you steer out to the next lane to overtake.

Have you tried changing the regen to A when using ACC? I find it mellows the approach a bit, although I agree the ACC should really be able to do this on its own.

In my old Kia soul EV, I could just disconnect the external speaker by simply pulling off a connector; it didn’t trigger any error and it was totally reversible.
it could be just as easy with the MG4.

I haven’t located the speaker though…
Surely the Pedestrian Alert is a legal requirement?

I tried it today, maybe slightly better but not really that noticeable. For instance, on the m-way and speed set at 68 mph, came to a slight downhill the speed at the crest was 67 mph, returned to 68 as the down started, then applied the brakes (well regen at 22) down to 66, then accelerated again. Pretty poor I'd say. ACC is still slowing far too harshly approaching slightly slower vehicles in front.

True, I only use it when I'm on a fairly empty stretch of highway, it's definitely something they can improve on a lot.

Had SC77 applied today at my second service (low mileage £163 @ 14k miles). I'd say it seemed a little less aggressive in its actions, I'll have a better idea tomorrow after a regular journey where I know it usually overreacted. I now have the new version of ACC where it steps 1 mph increments unless you hold, then it does 5 mph steps.

The SC077 update has made an enormous improvement to ACC/TJA, and I think efficiency. For those not experiencing such an improvement I wonder if trying the adaptive regen setting could help?

I think the improvement in efficiency is more likely due to the increase in temperature.

Keeping an open about that. For the last thousand miles I've been getting better efficiency figures than I would normally see in summer weather. I can't simply put this down to resetting the GOM after sc077 update...

Depending on who did it or how nice they are my SE SR had a BMS update. It really changed how it behaved with a LOT longer balancing to begin with almost like I could cram more into the battery not battery efficiency. It was a tiny update I did myself, worth keeping in mind.

NOT part of the official campaign btw

I've not noticed any difference in efficiency (although it has only been a day) but can confirm LKA is much improved and ACC is a bit calmer when going through the village with parked cars on the road. Coincidentally I did a 7-100% balance charge last night, I just used the Zappi boost function to start the charge at 21:30 and let it run. By 5:48 this morning it had reached 100% and started balancing by 6:00 at which time the Zappi had consumed 60.21kWh. It then dropped to 100-200w until 8 am when the car terminated the charge having consumed 60.45 kWh.

Mines booked in for early May to have all the updates done (initially I just wanted the faults sorting) but they need the car for a full day to apply software updates...just how lowest bidder are the computer components in these cars that it is slow enough to require 2-4hrs to update. I can install windows onto a blank PC from a box of bits and have windows 11, all the drivers for things like the graphics card installed in 30-40 minutes. Do these things really have late 90's levels of computer tech where it would take half a day to install windows 98.

I only moan because they won't give me a courtesy car for the day "we only have two and they only get given out for MOT's and servicing". I don't like to wish my life away but November 25 2026 can't come soon enough.
