When will we see an MG EV Hatchback or small car?
That looks £10-£12k Fiat Cinquecento - definitely a place in city and suburban life for those - an MG1EV? Additionally need a Mini sized MG3EV at £15-£18kthere is somthing like what you say

Take a look at the Dacia Spring - these things can't get out of the dealers fast enough here in France, there is already a 6-8 month wait. There is definitely a market for a £15k-£20k small hatchback - essentially a Corsa-e for 75% of the price.
I don't think that's reached the UK yetTake a look at the Dacia Spring - these things can't get out of the dealers fast enough here in France, there is already a 6-8 month wait.
Small, great city car (awful on highways), not fast but more than good enough for its intended use and most importantly, cheap - here in France, with the new car EV bonus you can buy one for €12k; as a second/city car that's unbeatable - now that's an area MG should be targeting.
China (as a Renault) and Europe only at the moment as there is no RHD tooling. Rumors are a decision on whether to bring it to the UK are due this month, but heck, rumors are rumors eh?I don't think that's reached the UK yet
The car which has been shown in the spy shots is a completely new EV-only architecture, and not a modified MG3.I think more work needs doing on MG3 first before they release an EV version. I have driven a few ( courtesy cars) and they are not quite there yet.
It would be nice to see it come in various versions - such as a 30 kWh base model, 51.1 kWh LR model and a dual motor performance model - just to cater for a wider market sector who want something smaller than a SUV.The car which has been shown in the spy shots is a completely new EV-only architecture, and not a modified MG3.
It should be shown to the public in April, as far as I know.
You shouldn't be disappointed. There will be various drivetrain configurations, including longer range and increased power. It would be nice to see it come in various versions - such as a 30 kWh base model, 51.1 kWh LR model and a dual motor performance model - just to cater for a wider market sector who want something smaller than a SUV.
I say stick a 75kw battery on it an you'll have a 350 mile range car possibly for a reasonable price hopefully knowing MG. That would get a lot of people then into the EV market. People don't want EV's because of range.... and price, but if MG can deliver a small hatchback in over 300 mile range I don't think anyone else has done that. I for one would buy one.It would be nice to see it come in various versions - such as a 30 kWh base model, 51.1 kWh LR model and a dual motor performance model - just to cater for a wider market sector who want something smaller than a SUV.
They may be waiting for Elon's Model 2 to appear as the price is reputed to be very affordableI think a sub £15k hatchback with a 25-30kWh battery and 100-125 mile range could complete with VW e-Up!, Fiat 500e & Mini.
If something came along for the new 22 registration then it could do well.
