Wireless CarPlay - and some other features.

I have fitted an Android unit to my ZS EV to give Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto.

It is a very small module that simply plugs into the USB port where you would normally connect your phone for CarPlay.

It needs access to the internet to work fully. This can be achieved by tethering to your phone, the in-car WiFi or by putting a SIM Card into the module.

I went the SIM-Card route.

Wireless CarPlay works flawlessly. I get into the car and just lay my phone down on the charging mat in the car and it auto-connects.

It actually runs Android 9 and with a SIM Card removes the need for a phone completely.

I’ve downloaded a few apps that will keep me occupied when charging the car

It also runs the full version of ABRP, so you can do all your configuration and route planning using the in-car screen without needing a subscription.

Almost any Application available on the Google App Store can be downloaded and used.

Yes. Passengers can watch videos while the car is moving. They can also browse the internet and play games.

I'm going to wait for the Motorola one, toss up which will come first, that, the car or the new sofa from DFS which we actually ordered on the same day as car. Was told both would be delivered in March, not holding my breath!!

I've ordered the AAWireless one as well for Andriod Auto. But they have emailed about delays due to lockdown in China atm for a week. Fingers crossed it arrives soon!

Yep. Works fine. I stopped for a bite to eat at a truck stop that had poor reception on my phone so I could not get to my emails. Connected my PC to the in-car Wifi and all was great

It has got two recliners, two 3 pin sockets and two USB chargers, so god knows how many semiconductors!!
