    MG iSmart 2.0 [merged]

Thanks MSvirus for confirming that it is not just me then. Not sure what I'll do about it if MG don't fix it (which they should, given that they state it's compatible with Android 8 - either that or change their description). Guess I'll just wait a while to see if the app gets updated so it...

    MG iSmart 2.0 [merged]

I might look into that, but all I can say is that I haven't had any issue with running any other apps on the phone. I know that operating systems get outdated eventually, but the performance of this phone with Android 8 is still perfectly acceptable for me so far. And I'm averse to replacing...

    MG iSmart 2.0 [merged]

Ok, tried on a second phone, Android V8.1.0. App will not run on that either. Looks like not only have MG broken a not-great-but-usable app, now it's not compatible with Android 8 either, despite saying it is. Will await to see if anyone reports being able to run V2.0.2 on Android 8, but...

    MG iSmart 2.0 [merged]

Ok, tried deleting the data and the cache before opening after installation. No go. Just a black screen. Will try installing on my wife's phone next, but unfortunately it's the same vintage as mine. Will report back.

    MG iSmart 2.0 [merged]

Thanks for the responses. The app reports it is compatible with Android 8 and above, and my device is listed as compatible. Certainly iSmart V2.0.1 worked (" ") ok with it, but no joy so far with V2.0.2. As you suggested Ian, tried clearing the cache before opening it after install, no...

    MG iSmart 2.0 [merged]

Oh dear, bad to worse. Just tried installing V2.0.2 from the Play Store on my Android phone (8.0.1) and now the app won't even open, just a black screen. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting phone in-between, several times, getting nowhere. Anyone having the same issue? Ideas?

    Pre heating question

Did you try using the preconditioning function in the Ohme app? If your charger supports it, that should enable you to preheat from the mains.

    Pre heating question

We have an Ohme Home Pro charger which has a preconditioning feature which you can schedule via the app to come on for a set time before you want to use the car to allow for preheating of the cabin/battery using the mains supply rather than the battery. (You'll still have to request the preheat...

Balance Charging - a few questions

Interesting stuff. Although I was an electrical engineer in a previous life, I don't know much about battery technology - learning fast though! That was the easy question!

Balance Charging - a few questions

Thanks for all the replies, very useful and reassuring. Maybe I can get a good night's sleep now! Good to know that balancing is done at lower SoCs as well, as that happens almost every time with our Ohme Home Pro charger on OVO Charge Anytime. I usually set the car to stop at 80%, then...

Balance Charging - a few questions

A few EV noob questions I have had my phase 2 Trophy for about 2.5 months now, and as it is owned not leased, I am keen to keep the battery in as good a state of health as I can. With that in mind I have been cycling it between around 20-80% as per recommended practice. The thing is that we...

    ACC without the A

Yes, the speed limit mode is what you need. It won't react to parked cars like the ACC can do, and you can drive normally under the set limit. I have been using the speed limit a fair bit recently. I find coming from an ICE car that in the MG it is extremely easy to find yourself exceeding...

Brake 'spongyness' varies in Eco / normal / sport

Hmmm. If they are recharging the battery, then an electrical generator of some kind is involved somewhere! I did a bit of googling on this. I can only find systems that generate via an alternator which kicks in when the throttle is lifted, and which charges the 12v battery or a capacitor...

    Left shortcut button forgetful

I don't think the left hand star button issues are confined to the SE! I have a MY23 Trophy, the selectable options are Drive Modes/Energy Recovery/AC/360, same left or right. All the options seem to work except AC on the left star. I tried to set this, but although it brings up the AC pop up...

Brake 'spongyness' varies in Eco / normal / sport

If you are going downhill, regenerating, and then apply the brakes, watch the power reading, you'll see the regen figure increase (negatively that is) - this wouldn't happen if the brakes were operating purely on friction, implying that increased regen is indeed part of the braking process. So...
