    Cyclone Alfred - Brisbane Australia

Yes, it is reassuring to have a charged MG4 in the garage and a V2L cable on hand, given that it's likely we will be without power for days...

    MG4 51kWh LFP Battery Health

Sorry to stretch this one out and don't read on if it gets boring. Yes, LFP and NMC are both lithium ion cells with different cathode materials, as opposed to lithium sulfur, lithium air, sodium ion and many, many other quite different types of chemistry that are being researched at the moment...

Would you have another MG after the MG4 ?

I've only had mine for 4 months, and so far I have been very happy. Sure, there are some little glitches as everyone has pointed out, but the way it drives and the cost of ownership easily make up for those. I have had no problems with it. I only voted Maybe as I don't know what the market will...

    Low Speed charging rate variable

Excellent, thanks @Coulomb. That's exactly the information I was looking for. I thought it must involve those thin pins and that the EVSE must have the ability to limit the current draw.

    Yellow battery gauge

This is an entertaining thread! Mine has been green for all of the 3 months I've had it, but this morning it randomly went amber with 96% charge. Seems a little overcautious...

    Low Speed charging rate variable

I've been checking remotely with the app, with the car locked and everything switched off. There are six independent chargers in the carpark and they are definitely capable of 6.4 kW, since that is how it normally starts. One thought I had was that perhaps when they are all in use the total...

    Low Speed charging rate variable

No, just a single charge point. Perhaps it is something to do with the charger, but it's very hard to get any information about it. At other times I have definitely had it do a full charge without a reduction in current, so I think it's more likely to be the car doing the limiting.

    Low Speed charging rate variable

I'm not sure if there has been anything closer to a conclusion on this, but I have noticed a related issue several times, including today. On the AC charger at work I connected this morning with about 36% charge and it was happily charging at the normal 6.4 kW, as expected. I checked...

    Trophy not charging fast enough?

Yes, mine normally charges at 6.4 kW on single phase AC, or at least it did for the first couple of months. Interestingly, now that it is a little warmer here (mid to high 20s), the charge rate drops to around 2.9 kW.

    Consumption

I have no doubt that elevation is significant. I've been driving my MG4 on the short commute to work every day (20 km) since I bought it 3 months ago and in ideal conditions (this is Brisbane, so always ideal :) - mostly around mid-20s) I use consistently around 10 kWh/100 km on the way there...
