The most your car can get from a 22kW (or 43kW) charger is 11kW. To do that it needs a 3 phase cable. When MG changed the charging hardware for the FL they didn't bother changing the cable they sell to a 3 phase one.
My dealer advised me not to buy the MG one and get a 3 phase one from Amazon.
I think that the extra weight of the DC cables makes it harder for the plug to stay properly in the socket and I guess that is why locking the car can often help.
Tricky question to answer. Try to turn off everything electrical. I think the lights will still be on but the battery can cope with those. Does anyone know if there is a way to shut the infotainment system down as much as possible? If you've got an alternate route , I'd consider it. Recovery...
I think that if you explain to them that you'll take it elsewhere for a service then you might get some leverage. (Of course, it helps if there is somewhere else you can take it)
but if you are considering using them for a service you might be able to negotiate a big discount on those figures. (Once the car is in the workshop it is only a few minutes work)
You can take out an MG service plan from their website for just one year. You give them the reg and the mileage and it will generate an immediate quote (which could be for your dealership if you want).
Its fine to charge to 100% but batteries don't really like being left sitting at 100%. I charge mine to 80% unless I need to use more the following day.
I think its even fine to charge to 100% on a rapid charger - it really slows down for the last 20% so its not time efficient but it wont hurt...
I went with the Carlinkit 3.0 - it was the cheapest I could find. If I was buying again I think I'd go for one of the smaller ones that have no cable at all.
One thing to say about mine is that it took an absolute age to boot up when I first plugged it in. I don't know if it was doing updates or...
In my case I'm fairly sure it was the usb port in the phone not getting a good enough grip on he cable. I tried lots of different cables, some of which worked for a while. I couldn't see any correlation between cost of cable and how well it worked.
In the end I bought a wireless dongle and...
I think I remember seeing somewhere that the VW wheels use bolts with a different profile from the MG ones so you'd need to carry a spare set of bolts if you used a VW spare wheel.
The MG service history is not a physical document - it is stored at MG somewhere. I don't know how you would go about checking it at a non MG dealership.
Make sure that the dealer specifically says the EVCC (Tesla) update has been done. MG consider the car to be fully up to date even if this fix hasn't been applied.
I'd consider getting a Type 2 cable. I've only used mine a few times (mainly at hotels) but each time I was very glad to have it...
