I think there's some type of timer on the power to the usb. Mine sometimes doesn't reconnect to the adaptor for a while if I just jump out of the car for a few minutes and back in. Quickly pulling the adaptor and plugging back in gets it back immediately.

There's two different R30's. I think if it starts with SWI133 it is the most recent update. Someone else here will definitely know more.

Definitely, always a good back up. I'm using mine daily to charge at work while we build 2 new dedicated charge points. (on ring dedicated to powering food vans, so designed for 16amp continuous). Just worth lowering the draw to 10amp on a normal house socket.

I didn't care that much, considering how cheap the lease is. I did get a 7kW charger installed at my partners house as part of it (I have a flat so not much point for me) and my insurance, which independently was over £1200. Work also let me charge for free, so I haven't had to pay to charge in...
