    Charging port cover not closing

I had to pry mine open with a flat head screwdriver on one occasion - it did the trick and I avoided marking the plastic. Make sure the car is unlocked first of course.

Great news! Long may it continue to work :)

That worked for me too for a short while. Hopefully it will keep working for you for longer than it did for me 🤞

    Charging port cover not closing

On my car it was the locking pin not pushing back out against the charging port flap with sufficient force. Once pushed in, it would then reemerge in a sluggish manner and I didn't get the 'click' telling me it had engaged with the flap to lock it closed. I tried cleaning it with WD40 and when...

    Charging port cover not closing

After a couple of months the Velcro had filled up with road gunk so wasn't holding too well. In addition, the force required to pull the Velcro apart caused the sticky tape on the back to come away from the car body (likely PP plastic , which most glues bond poorly with). So repair no. 2. This...

    Charging port cover not closing

Problem solved. When the car is locked, the charging cover also still locks.

    Charging port cover not closing

Unfortunately our car is now out of warranty due to its mileage. Whole bumper section needing to come off is insanely frustrating and ill considered by MG imo. This started about 10 days ago.

    Charging port cover not closing

Hi Folks, has anyone else had the following problem and found a solution to it? The charging port is not closing on my 2021 MG5 (ie the flap does not 'click' shut). The pin that appears to have the lock mechanism does not reliably spring out and turn, so I'm assuming that is the problem. I've...

    Granny charger connected not charging

As luck would have it, I was trying this when I saw your reply. It seems that AC charging is not working at all. The public charger said it was charging, but the car was not charging - so the same outcome as when I tried the granny charger. I did mention this in my earlier post, but I have an...

    Granny charger connected not charging

The power light is on (not blinking), and the charging light is on (not blinking), the fault light is off. However, the car says 'connected, uncharged!' The cable does lock. I have tried all the other suggestions in this thread, sadly to no avail. I'm taking the car to my local dealer...

Granny charger stops charging after 2 seconds

I suddenly have exactly the same issue. I have an MG5 and have successfully charged many times before using the MG supplied granny charger. @Ial Did you ever have any luck resolving this?

    Service by non-dealer

Thanks, a good suggestion so I looked up who was near me. Unfortunately the dealer we purchased the car from no longer sells nor services MG cars, which it turns out has left me with very little choice in dealer. There is one dealer that's a marginally longer drive away, but the one I use is...

Intermittent slow charge from home charger - MG5 SR

Sorry, forgot to add this info. We use Octopus Go, which isn't an intelligent tariff from my understanding. It just offers us four hours of electricity overnight at a cheaper rate. In addition to this, we never had this problem for the first two and half years using the same car, charger and...
