At least you’ve been given the choice. My dealer told me to use the AA to get a courtesy car which I had access to for 2 days as per AA’s policy on offering a courtesy car. The dealer didn’t offer me a courtesy car at all and said they would only do so if MG themselves authorised the expense for...
I read somewhere that having the car switched on when you plug in does make it behave so I’ve been doing that without issue. The main exception is that opening the app can cause it to start immediately, so I don’t open the app after setting it up. If you do open the app, tell it to stop charging...
Do you mean bang or clunk? The clunk sound when the car begins or ends a charge, if you notice it, is the solenoids making or breaking the connection to the battery for charging as far as I know.
When the battery is full and there is no chance of regen slowing the car, it could be possible for the car to apply battery power in the reverse direction of the motor to slow the car. The friction brakes could be removed from a purely technology perspective, but there’s something reassuring...
Ohhhhh wow! That both reassures me and answers another outstanding question I had! I was totally mystified as to how the FM and DAB works without any visible aerial on the roof. Thanks.
Hi fellow MG4 owners. Yesterday was the first day I had the chance to defrost my MG4. I fired up the front and rear screen demisters and waited. The wing mirrors defrosted, the front screen defrosted, and the back screen defrosted .... but only partially.
Upon inspection I can see that the...
I have come to a similar conclusion except for two short term reasons why not yet. Firstly the COVID means I don’t need a car as I have nowhere to go. Second, I had just about conceded to the garage that I will have to take the car back, but he was quite insistent that he wanted to put a claim...
I guess an update on mine is in order. I dropped the car off on Monday with AA’s assistance. It wasn’t due to be looked at until this coming Tuesday but they looked at it last Tuesday and told me “there’s a tube on the gearbox that is leaking oil because it’s too short. They will fit a longer...
My MG4 refused to lock the first day I got it because I had the spare key in the boot. It honked the horn when I pressed lock standing outside of it. It seems to know when the key is inside when it’s behaving itself.
There is, but the deadlock inactivates the linkage. The deadlock should never ever be apparent to the owner and should only be active when the car is locked while you’re outside it. This is the crux of the fault. The key is misread and the car goes into theft mode.
Almost certainly worth noting however that the door pulls are mechanical. Not an electronic switch as is being suggested.
A dead battery or broken fuse should not prevent you opening the doors. There is a deadlock mechanism that makes the mechanical linkage stop working for security. The fault...
When people get locked in, it says Invalid Key Detected. If it says Key Not Detected like you say, that shouldn’t cause a lock in. But I guess that could indicate the battery is low on the key or that there’s a fault with the key’s aerial. You can drop the key, buttons facing up, in the front...
Also, check the rubber seal around the door. I found there’s a triangle of rubber near the door hinge that should be clipped into the bodywork directly in front of the door mirrors but on the inside of the door. Mine was folded back on itself. I pushed it into place and it gave a satisfying...
