So I’ve just had my local MG garage call me to tell me that MG have recalled my MG4 Trophy for a LKA update.
They called it a “recall” so I assume that’s what it really is, rather than just an update. Recalls are logged with the DVLA for safety issues from my understanding. This would suggest...
I’ve just touched up 10 or so stone chips on mine (White). I do feel the paint is thin and brittle as these aren’t the first chips I’ve touched up on the bonnet.
Best advice, and something I’m seriously considering, is to 3M clear vinyl wrap the front and wheel arches.
Unfortunately no dashcam but photos from the scene do show a clear white line of frost in the middle of the road. I know it'll be a case of my word against theirs but there is so much damming evidence against LKA that surely the burden of proof is on them in this case. (not a question, more a...
Thanks, exactly what I've done. If have to go through insurance then absolutely will!!
Hope you're ok fella!!!!!!
What's it going to take for them to sort this!!!???
I wasn't going that fast at all, more like 25. No idea how it turned on if you're saying it has to be that fast to do so. I had just dropped my daughter off, maybe it hadn't reset since my previous journey on A roads? What's more on icy roads I don't think I could've got to that sort of speed in...
So I've just had a crash in my MG4 Trophy as a direct result of LKA. I was on an icy single track country road, just pulled out from the house I was visiting and not 100 meters LKA beeped and snatched the wheel! This caused the front end to loose traction and I ended up up the verge in a hedge...
Ah fair enough, glad we could rule that out.
However, I have a feeling that it could still be a communication problem between the two. Unlike a Tesla where the two communicate seamlessly. A standard wall charger doesn’t know what the current battery level is in the 4 because it seems it doesn’t...
My Trophy plugged in to an Ohme Pro does the same thing - every now and the thing charges to 100% when the car is set to 80%. The other day I was pleasantly surprised that it did what I asked and only charged to 80% but that is not the norm.
Thinking - is this an Ohme charger issue or an MG issue?
I made a video on this, with a work around. But completely agree it shouldn’t do it in the first place. And I WISH LKA worked properly so we didn’t have to turn it of!!!

If you use a credit card/store card instead of a spudger it takes seconds and leaves no damage. Just push the long edge of the card up into the long edge of the diffuser and turn the card - the diffuser just pops out then.
I accept that it’s part of their 5 star rating BUT the system, as implemented, is not fit for purpose. It needs some serious improvement and a product recall to update to something that isn’t dangerous.
Do you mean the screen automatically changing to light/dark mode when the head lights switch on? I think it’s in auto I.e. when the lights are switched on the screen goes dark. To be honest, I haven’t checked to see if manually setting the screen to stay in light or dark mode fixes the LKA...
LKA is by far the worst feature on the car. I was on the A12 in 40mph roadworks in a contraflow and LKA was making the car pinball off each side. If my wife wasn’t in the passenger seat and able to turn it off for me and I had to try with one hand we’d have crashed into one of the barriers...
