Spoke to my insurer (Admiral). They say the iSmart app tracker on the MG ZS is accepted as a tracker for insurance purposes, and doesn't have to be Thatcham-approved. Reduced my premium slightly.
I suppose that would be the same option for anyone who had control of any car with a "proper" tracker like a high end Audi/BMW.
Still not sure what to answer this as, might just phone the insurer and ask.
I suppose it's asking in general terms, if the car is stolen can it be tracked. My view is "yes" as I can open the MG iSmart app and find its location (unless there is something driver-side that can be disabled by whoever is using the car).
Would be interested to hear what ZS owners have put. I...
Time to renew our insurance and having to shop around. One question that comes up is "is your car fitted with a tracker?".
How do other ZS EV owners answer this? Obviously we can track the car using the iSmart app, but I'm not sure if insurers mean a third party fitted tracker or something more...
Will post some photos soon.
We've had our (second hand) 72 plate ZS EV Long Range since February. We bought it with 14k on the clock and it's currently at 20k. It's generally been problem free.
However a couple of months ago, we noticed the false leather coating which covers most of the...
I'm with Octopus and my home EV charger is a Hypervolt one (Home 3.0 Pro). It works pretty flawlessly with Intelligent Octopus Go (the smart tariff). To charge the car (either via a schedule/planned charge or plug and go) you need the Octopus app and the Hypervolt app.
After you've set it all...
For any that have installed this - we're having a bit of difficulty.
Firstly, the double-sided tape that came in it was useless and didn't leave a flush finish.
We tried using Loctite super glue, but for some reason it just wouldn't adhere the plastic of the sharkfin aerial to the metal of the...
@Susanna @Eclectic
For anyone that has fitted this - mine arrived a few months back - I know it might sound silly, but is it safe to fit? Do I need to 'earth' myself or do anything in terms of the car's battery before fitting? The instructions for the one I ordered from AliXpress are along...
I know this has been covered before but I can't find the thread. Maybe I'm putting in the wrong search terms.
Anyway...
We have a cheap hand car wash a minute
away from us who used to do a brilliant job on our old non-EV. One of those car washes where you drive in, they cover it in snow foam...
Did you actually read the list? Hardly asking for a Bentley here am I Tim?
The ZS EV is mostly great and ticks most boxes for me, it's just a wishlist of things that would make it just that little bit better.
I mean come on...a sharkfin or no visible aerial isn't the definition of luxury, even...
If there was a major redesign of the ZS EV, what features and improvements would you like?
I've written up my list below, feel free to add more suggestions:
(features in bold are absolute no brainer must haves)
Exterior:
Either a small 'sharkfin'-style aerial or no visible aerial
Improved...
Oh I thought the pic of the black car was yours.
Thank you very much, looks promising and much cheaper than what I had planned with a MG HS aerial.
Will update this thread once mine arrives and it's fitted (if anyone cares to see).
