How to get a FRUNK in your MG5

Maybe also a reply from my MG service center, this is not a part we supply from factory or originally with the car. So advice is do not do this.

Just reading through all comments so have decided to go for it. Sourced a used frunk like the ones made in Ireland :-) and got a spare cover from eBay. Work begins next week to try and combine the two into something that looks Ok ;-) Wish me luck...

So many of you will have seen this before the picture is a screen shot from the full video below it done around 2yrs ago by James cheevley from the James and Kate youtube channel and if your interested there are several more about the MG5 on that channel as I think they have 4 of them as vans so take a look some good stuff there

Like Archev says above….my charge cable (in its MG bag) fits easily on top of the engine cover. No clash with underside of bonnet at all.

Here's mine based on IKEA Klämtare (Width: 58cm, Depth: 45cm, Height: 30cm), using original mounts but removing the frame.
The top mount is aluminium L profile (from EWI top cover) and a 25cm piece of wood down from there plus a 5cm thick piece across in a T-shape at the bottom, the bottom/front one is a single piece of wood that had the bracket shape cut out plus longer bolts.
At the charger the cable tie/plug was moved around so it's not squished.
The upper pipe on the 12V battery side got rearranged a little by opening, moving and re-closing the 8-shaped clips (foam protection is pointing at one in the first picture).
The three pipes that are touched (bottom, left and right) got additional closed cell foam protection, secured with cable ties.

Nominally 78 liters, cheap (€19) and reversible - I'm very happy with that.

Nice. Paul from Cleevely Mobile had a look at mine on Friday and recommended basically what you're doing: add a bit more padding for the things that look like they're getting pressed on, and if possible a bit of support from the frame mounts. I'm sure I'll get around to it at some point.
