I'm sure others must be having this problem. My wife is unable to undo the fuel cap filler, even I struggle. I have tried tightening it by one click and then undoing it, not sure this makes any difference. I am currently looking into modding some sort of lever/spanner device so my wife can undo the cap. I am told that the tank is pressurised to reduce fuel evaporation, I am sure this contributes to the problem. Has anyone resolved this? If you have please share.

Sounds brutal. Doesn't the manual mention a button that you're supposed to press until a light goes green or similar? This apparently depressurises the system.

See for example:

Edit: Oops! That's from the HS forum. But perhaps the MG3 Hybrid+ has a similar system.

No such system on the MG3 Hybrid.

No such system on the MG3 Hybrid.
The Manual does however advise to turn the cap slowly counter clockwise to release the pressure.

has anyone found a device to clear pedestrians instead of blasting the horn as it won’t toot with a light tap,and you can’t rev the engine easily! Eagle 5

I have seen this posted somewhere before but cannot find it. The fuel tank is sealed, the benefit being less fuel evaporation, but it makes it very hard to remove the fuel cap. My wife found it impossible to do so I made a spanner to give some leverage. It worked fine for a couple of months but I had made it out of wood and that caught me out the other day, even I couldn't get the cap open and when I used the wooden spanner it broke. I eventually got the cap open using brute strength, but I needed to find another solution. I know a lot of people have taken the car to the dealer to get the problem sorted, but mine didn't seem to know what to do, so here is my solution. I bought a 26mm flat cone wrench from Amazon and keep it in the rear door cubby hole for easy access, it works a treat. Here is a screenshot of the device:

I did make a wooden one but it broke after 4 months, so I got this 26mm cone wrench from Amazon £8 nice and compact flat spanner

I did but it listed over 90 when I searched, obviously not searching right. I searched in my content which shows all my posts

I think I've sorted it, I need to put my name in the member field when searching and it comes up straight away.

You need to tighten it so it clicks at least once and I'm sure I read a post that unless it is sealed the car wont start. Anyway my problem is solved, but I might try applying a little grease as suggested.
