Hi all,

I couldn't see a recent thread about this and did a search but couldn't find anything related.

While the weather's been cold, I've been activating the heater & seat warmer through the App in the morning about 5-6 minutes before going out to the car. Every time I have activated the heater or seat warmer (or both) I have noticed that the infotainment screen is staying in 'light mode', despite the auto headlights being turned on and the screen should be in dark mode.

I have to fix this by turning the headlights auto off and then back to auto on again, and then the screen will sort itself out.

Has anyone else experienced / noticed this?

This happens prior to your trip, while you are still in the house? (hence "pre-heating")
I have not noticed this, but I do park 500m away from my home.

When I first get in the car, the screen is off. When I push the break pedal to start and 'ready' the car, the infotainment screen comes on and is in light mode.

If I set off driving, it stays in light mode even if the headlights are on. The only way to sort it is turning the auto lights off and back on again.

If it makes a difference, I park about 4 metres from my front door.

Here's a picture, screen on light mode, but you can see on the dash (and from the light ahead) that the headlights are on.

Sorry, I missed the point of pre-heat + subsequent drive.
No, I have not noticed this. However that could be due to me setting off from a lit parking facility, into a dark area, whixh could fix itself?

It seems that the screen auto theme needs a toggle after start-up rather than it detecting lights status on start-up. This is one of the reasons I've set my screen to permanent Dark theme. :)

Ohh, and I have Android Auto coming on by default. Ie my use -case is different from yours

I have a wireless AA dongle too ... so AA auto-starts after a 30s delay, assuming my phone is in range. ;)

I'm glad someone else has brought this up because I thought I was going crazy.

Get in the car after pre-heating at night and I feel like I'm being slightly dazzled by the brightness of the screens.
Check the brightness settings and they are low, or at least they show they are low. Until you try to move the slider and then it suddenly dims to the selected level. Odd little glitch.

I've taken a leaf out of @tsedge 's book and decided to go constant dark mode. Now after pre-heating it's already in dark mode. It's a little frustrating, and I don't think there's a 'fix' but my garage wouldn't know to apply it if it was written on a piece of paper so I'm just coping with it on Dark Mode full time for now!

Same problem here, ended up switching the display off. It took me a while after getting home to navigate to the background theme setting for ‘auto-light-dark’ and switch it back to auto. Turning auto lights off and back on again will be easier to do if it ever happens again, so thank you for that tip blue232.

At the moment I’ve found using dark mode 100% of the time to be the easiest way around it, but that’s probably because 99% of my driving is before sunrise / after sunset in winter so it doesn’t make much difference.

Will have to see how it fairs in the spring / summer when it’ll be more daylight hours of driving for me.
