MG ZS EV HV Battery shut off

It is the same as turning the key but not starting the car allows all the accessories to come on without running the engine
Not really a problem in a EV I sit in the car waiting for kids or wife on hospital visits it's nice in ready mode keeping heating or cooling on maybe a film

When I push the start button twice so the green light is showing on start button, I now get the following warning
HV Battery Shut off
My foot is not pressed on the brake pedal, did notice the 12 volt battery was showing 12 volt usually 1 bar above, I'm sure this has never appeared before, drive 30 miles to work, switched off then 2 presses of the start button, again the same message.

Is this the norm?

Open the door, push brake for > 10 secs and then push button start. That's all (just like a Microsoft : CTRL+ALT+DEL)

isn't the norm to press the start button only once and keep the brake pedal firmly pressed down until the car is ready? pressing twice is like On/Off

It is, IF you want to go all the way to ready mode.

But if you just want to check something quickly, you can press the button with no brake pedal press; then there is a cycle of three states: off, AUX (yellow LED on in the button itself), and ON (green button). AUX and ON are like "auxiliary" in an old car with a mechanical key: some items get power, but there is no "ignition". AUX has most of the dash instruments off, ON turns those on. READY mode is like ON but with the traction system also powered up.

If you just want to listen to the music for 5 minutes, and don't need heating or cooling, you could use one of the auxiliary states. But any longer than 10 minutes and the car will go back to the off state (no radio or music). All the computers and fans that come on tend to drain the auxiliary battery.

Hi all, I had this issue and was told to turn the vehicle off and then walk away from the car so that the car key no longer has connection to the car. Only then does the cars computer system properly shutdown and reboots when you turn the car back on. AA suggested being away from the car for approx. 10 mins however it may work in less time.

Hi.. Sometimes it happens due to switching to battery discharge under load. Try resetting it like this: Open the door, press the brake for longer than 10 seconds, and then press start.
