Condensation in the cabin in cold weather

It depends on your definition of costly. Mileage wise it's only 8 to 10 miles over the whole journey of 200+ miles which can easily be recovered by a slightly lighter right foot. Cost wise if you are charging at home it's 15p to 20p.
Given the choice of being fogged up and cold or warm with clear windows I prefer spending 15p and having to recharge 8 miles sooner.
Hi Ian,

You have opened up another interesting point, the cost of charging at Home.

I always charge my MG4 overnight @7p per kWh using Octopus Intelligent GO tariff, I'm wondering which energy supplier and Tariff you use, stating 15p to 20p.

I have solar and huge bank of flooded lead acid storage of 45kWh (All DIY & MCS certified)

I charge the battey bank overnight as my EV and when there’s a surplus due to good weather conditions (not much during winter months) pay back into the grid @15p/kWh.

I'm with E.on and pay 6.7p/kWh but I was referring to the total cost of keeping the heating on for a 200+ mile journey not the price per kWh

Whilst sat in a darkened ( apart from the non extinguishable DRLs ) carpark the other night waiting for my wife. Outside temp -2c , Bored, I watched the range drop and percentage drop as I had the A/C and heating on along with some Talking Heads. Over the half hour period the range dropped 7kms and battery 2% ,both suggesting that I had used 1.2 kwh of electrons for the toasty warm environment in which I sat. Windows were of course clear, Temp at 28c and 3 fan speed.
Lots of twitching curtains and glances from the surrounding residences as the worried/ confused occupants wondered why a strange car with its lights on was invading their territory .

Today we had light frost and lots of thick fog. On the way back I changed the airflow from outside to auto (which is supposed to be a mix of outside and recirculation). This never worked in damp and warmer weather, but now it did. It kept every window free from fogging up. Even the rear window.
Next time I will take down the rear headrests. I can see the condensation on the rear window straight behind the three headrests. Sign of a lack of ventilation...

You could turn the lights off if you are sitting in the car. I do that when parked.

I removed the. Centre headrest in my MG4, made a huge difference to rear visibility.
