Hi Folks
Im the owner of tje New Zs hybrid, and I've a concern regarding the fuel consumption.
Im doing delivery job in yje town, so mainly driving at city only.
The first week was horrible 38-39 mpg with super gently acceleration... Will this improve?
I kbkw the car is bramd new, and" needs to be brake in ".
Before MG i had Kia Niro hybrid, winter time the worse fuel figure was 52 mpg.... The Mg not even close....
Its make me super stressful...
Opininon please
Thanks

Just filled up and have a range of 540 at the moment.
Have not noticed what i actually get on a full tank but its a lot more than my previous ZS petrol.

540 miles or km?
Mine with the full tank shows only 428 miles, but on the last fill I've made a calculation and my average was 42 mpg 😭Shame, but the dealership says it's correct and nothing is wrong.....

Hmm. I’m still dithering which car to purchase. But I test drove Hyundai Kona hybrid this morning and without the slightest of effort, managed to get 63mpg. It dropped into ev mode loads. I wonder why the difference, as the kona has a slightly smaller battery and I think… similar ish petrol engine. After driving the Kona today, I seriously reckon I could get 70mpg around town. Even on dual carriageway speeds I was still getting 50 + mpg.
I wonder how much is down to the gear box in each car? On paper, I’d have thought MG ZS hybrid plus could do better in terms of consumption. But I’m no expert. Only just getting my head around the various hybrid systems. I did notice the Kona engine wasn’t happy for the first 10 mins. Needed to warm up. Then it was very smooth and low revs throughout the test drive. Cold definitely doesn’t help hybrid performance.
Both cars are almost identical weight.
The long test drive I did in MG ZS hybrid + I was only managing to get 44mpg. Despite my best efforts. In the Kona… I got 63mpg without even trying.
Trying to understand why the difference… because on paper, I’d have thought the MG should be equal to or outperform the Kona??
Just to add…. pretty much identical route, same time of day, same temperature, same traffic conditions.

I'm happy with mine, but first I looked at the Ford Puma but found that the petrol engine never actually stops.
So choose the MG because it does actually run on electric and I was impressed by the leg room for rear seats and price.
However if I had read this forum I probably would have not, due the dealers getting bad reports on warranty work.

To be fair.. you can spend months doing research and end up thinking maybe you’ve made the wrong choice. Sometimes you just have to enjoy the decision you’ve made and try and not get irritated by the things you don’t like. Problem is…. I’m easily irritated!!
An example… test drove Toyota Yaris Cross. One of the coffee cup holders is situated under the arm rest….. I’m still getting therapy. Which compared to most problems in the world….. not really something to get upset about. All cars have their problems…… just enjoy the best bits!

What a joke. Always been a person who likes to do his research before purchase. Fortunately, I didn’t fall into the pre sales sparkle of MG. Having taken the Hyundai Kona out yesterday, this morning was booked in to take MG ZS hybrid + for second test drive before make a decision.
Arrived to hear two different customers kicking off at the dealership. Thought about walking out there and then. Waited 40 mins while the car was ‘prepped’ to test drive, despite it being booked in for a specific time. Eventually taken to the car only to find it wouldn’t start. Salesman couldn’t get it to start either, despite having moved the car only minutes earlier. Back inside, two customers exploding with rage.
I just walked out and drove straight to Hyundai and ordered the Kona. Arrives end of March.
I sincerely hope people have better experience than me. I honestly felt I was being pressured to buy a second rate product.
I know there are many people in this forum who have had great experiences and love their cars. I sincerely hope that continues.
I might live to regret my decision, but had to go with my intuition. 🤞

To be fair to the dealer, it's not their fault (hopefully) that the customers were raging. The lack of starting was probably some glitch with the position of the keys, or something that the previous drivers did.

Making you wait is certainly annoying, especially when you had made an appointment. But again, that might be down to the previous test drivers. I think you just had really bad luck. The dealers probably had a worse day.

I hope you enjoy your Kona. I have no idea what the hybrids are like, but I'm sure that they will be good vehicles.

Regarding the customers kicking off at dealership. Not sure what one of the arguments was about, but I know the other was about an issue that was meant to have been repaired and the customer was experiencing exactly the same issue within a day. Not sure what the issue was.
Regarding the wait….. the car clearly hadn’t been test driven that morning as it was blocked in by several other cars. That’s what annoyed me….. zero preparation for my test drive. Even though I had booked it felt like my arrival took them my surprise. Just seemed all rather chaotic.
They moved the car out into position and then when I was taken out to the car, it wouldn’t start!
As for Kona Hybrid, I’m sure I’ll discover things that will annoy the hell out of me within days of owning it. Just felt a little more ‘secure’ with the Hyundai dealership. They were easy going and saying things like “take it out as many times as you like”. Whereas MG felt somewhat pressured. Maybe just my perception.
Tell you one thing though. While at Hyundai, I sat in a Genesis car. Instantly went from being a non materialistic person who just wants a car to get me from A to B cheaply and reliably… to an envious person wishing I had more money. What a car!! The sound insulation! Like being in a recording booth!

I'll be sure to avoid them then 😁. My days of making significant money are over.

It's good to know that the upper end of the EV market is being catered for, at a hopefully non-obscene price point.
