Hey

So just got my MG4 Trophy and the wireless charger worked once and does not seem to charge at all now. Is this a common issue?

Many thanks

It's quite finicky, your phone has to be precisely over the wireless coil, and as soon as it moves it'll stop charging. On top of that, the coil is not centred on the pad. It could do with MagSafe but that wouldn't help android I guess.

edit; could also be broken of course, or maybe a fuse?

Thank you

The car is brand new and as I say it did work once or twice. I think the issue is as you described its super fussy. I may end up just using the wire most of the time anyway as I always use carplay. I will mention it to the dealer anyway just so it is on record.

Would be good if there was some markings on there showing where the coil was.

If you ever get sick of the wired CarPlay and buy a dongle, make sure you set a delayed start up in the dongle settings of 30 seconds. I can recommend a wireless dongle, but of course it won’t charge then

Thanks

I have a carlinkit. I stopped using it awhile ago as I still needed to connect to charge. I was going to give it a try again on the theory I would wireless charge.

I may still give it a go.

Same thing here, if you fiddle with position it will work (until you turn a corner and the phone moves). Making me think if I bought a cheap magsafe phone case, removed the circular magnet and attached it to the charging mat in the correct position it would help keep the phone positioned- it might even stop the phone from flying across the car when putting the power down.

I use a wireless dongle ... but have a cable plugged into a USB power adapter in the 12V socket, so use that on longer journeys when I want to charge my phone. Otherwise my phone just stays in my pocket. :)

I bought these and they stop your phone from moving around, no matter how you throw it into corners.
