Hi, Had the comfort pack software update yesterday. Since the time I picked up the car, there is a warning for the 12V battery being low, to start the car. I thought if the car runs it will be ok (like with other cars). The car had done about 50 miles motorway now, but still the warning is there. Any suggestions?
Had called MG, could not get through to Stoneacre hyde, went to some office who wants the car back for another day.

I would suggest you get the car straight back to them......I had my Comfort 2 Update this week and everything is running perfect......in fact I think it is running better than before......You definitely don't want low battery on the 12v system as the car will not operate.

If you plug the car in for charging the HV the 12 volt battery also charges at the same time, try that and see how you get on

The car has been charged to 100% the error still there. Tried calling them, the usual, it goes to the central call centre, who wants the car booked in, next week. Then they try to flog the MOT insurance and other products.

Okay that doesn’t sound good at all. Carry on as planned and get it back in to MG.

Is it showing a low voltage on the 12v battery meter ?
And it might be worth checking the 12v battery connections to see if one is loose, just in case they disconnected them for some reason.

I also had the low voltage battery low on charge message on my facelift model after getting it back from the local MG service department. Rather than take it back again for another full day (they'd already had the car two days plus the weekend to fix a blank dashboard they'd caused), I disconnected the 12V battery negative terminal for 10mins, reconnected it and bingo - problem solved.

I'll post about my experience with the service dept in another thread - don't get me wrong I think the ZS EV SR Mk2 is absolutely brilliant to drive and totally hated having to temporarily go back to a petrol courtesy car albeit only briefly.

Did you ever fix this?

Replace the 12V battery if under a year warranty if over out of warranty as winter comes it may not survive.
if under warranty book in to MG and make sure the 12V is fully charged and they do a capacity test not voltage.

Had this all the time. Replaced the 12V battery with a good brand $150 battery. No problem since.

Change the battery for a Varta battery.......It probably has a Chinese battery on it and they are rubbish. And I'm speaking from experience !!

Does these batteries typically die within the 24 month warranty period for the LV battery ?

Asking, because i dont want to pay for a new battery, if they are likely to fail within the warranty timeframe.

Do we know if MG replaces these with a decent quality battery or you just get a similar crappy chinese battery ?

The original Chinese battery on my car started to fail just after the 12 month warranty ran out. Tell them you don't want it replaced with another Chinese one. My dealer swapped mine and returned it back to MG under fault.

Well if that's the case i am not going to preemptively change it now, i am going to wait until it fails and then have them replace it and do as you did, tell them to put something decent in it, instead of the Chinese dud it came with :)

the Chinese dud it came with :)
Do we have evidence that the SAIC branded lead acid battery is low quality? I know a lot of them suffered during storage during Covid, but any lead acid battery that is neglected for months will fail.

My impression is that the SAIC branded 12V batteries are decent. The one in my 2021 ZS EV is a little over 4 years old seems to be fine, despite my strong suspicion that it never gets charged when parked. That car was manufactured in December 2020, the 12V battery presumably a bit earlier than that.

Not at all, i have just seen quite a few that has talked about how they were bad.

As said, i will just keep mine, if it goes bad, i will ask for a replacement, if it does not, that's just even better.
