So I am looking for an MG dealer in Devon or Somerset that anyone has used and been happy with.
I took delivery of a second hand Trophy long range from Hendy MG Exeter. Thanks to reading this forum I made a few demands pre-delivery. I got the mats and charger but not the software update (it is on R24). I then seemed to enter a Faraday cage with no emails being returned even if requested by the salesman who sits 10 feet away from the service Dept. Anyway I gave them 7 days notice and, today sent a complaint. Within two hours I am called back and they will do it if they can (R63). I won't bore you with all the other things that has made me very wary of MG Exeter.

I use Blights garage, Bideford North Devon. They have been good so far.

I second the Eden Newton Abbot recommendation. Took my 72 plate Trophy for its second service yesterday. Got all the latest updates, very happy with the result. Can't comment on price as I have a MG UK service plan.

Within 2 hours of my complaint about Exeter MG I get a phone call asking what they can do and will ring again when they have the relevant software! But why do I need to raise an official complaint? Any way I'll see what happens. Thanks for the recommendations Newton Abbot is closest for me.

Well the upshot is I got my software updated and they looked at the slow puncture on the front wheel and reported it as damaged and unsafe! I was given no details of the actual damage but insisted it must have been supplied like that as it was losing pressure on the test drive and subsequently. They seem to have accepted that and will replace the wheel. In the meantime I have a loan car and, would you believe it, two miles down the road the tpms alarm went off, low pressure on both rear wheels. Fortunately I have a pump on board!

I bought my SE SR from Blights. On the plus side, they were the cheapest for the first year service, but don't have much of a clue about software updates. Last time there, I asked for the cruise control update (1MPH steps and no slow down on bends). They gave the car back with a patronising comment about me not knowing how to use it, and had the nerve to print out the relevant page from the manual showing 5MPH steps.
The irony was, that when I drove it home, they had actually carried out the update without knowing it. As I said, they don't understand the software at all.
Hendy in Exeter had the car all day, and only managed to update the infotainment to R33. Even the door lock recall wasn't done.
Eden Motors in Newton Abbott may or may not be any good, but after a 60 mile trip for updates, I was told the "Technician" wasn't in. They hadn't bothered to inform me, and weren't even apologetic. I won't be trying them again.
So, take your pick, or try another one somewhere else.

Thank you, very interesting. So Hendy Exeter, after selling me an unsafe car, only responded after my complaint in a proper manner. Infotainment upgrade from R24 to R63 took less than half an hour and included taking the front wheel off!. However I seem to still have the violent LKA which the loan car (a 74 plate on R46 I think) was gentle. So I need to find which module needs update and ask them to do that. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and let them do the second year low mileage service and report back in early Feb. Oh another thing, they do not answer the phone if you can find a direct number but they have a call centre pass on a message which they then ignore! I will speak to my local garage who were training their mechanics on EV's as I always had my Kia Niro hybrid serviced there, but they may be limited in what they can do.

If LKA is a problem, just switch on towing mode - and all your problems will go away (aside from reversing) - EV's dont need servicing per se, but if you are wanting a MG warranty, then just go to the dealer, its around £10-£15 / month on a service plan (which includes full UK breakdown relay) - it takes around 1/2 hr.

Towing mode is often recommended, but is everyone aware that the rear parking sensors will be disabled?

I had the second year service earlier this month back at Hendy Exeter and an update (SC077?) was applied and the LKA is fine now, a gentle nudge and quieter beeb. The service cost £152 and took from 10:00 till 14:30, which seemed a very long time but was easier than going to another dealer. I asked for a copy of the service record and the PDI. I got the former but, not surprisingly, no PDI as they weren't going to admit it had not been done properly.
