Hi
I have just purchased a 2025 MG ZS Hydrid+ here in New Zealand and am wondering if anyone can provide an answer as to why the "From Start" trip meter randomly resets to 0 Km when the reset button has NOT been pushed. It can happen after an engine restart, or may not happen for several restarts. It seems to always happen overnight. The "Accumulated Total" trip meter is fine.

I need to be able use this function as I have to record milage for work re-embursement for trips with many stop/starts, and at present I can not rely on it so have to read the ACTUAL odometer before and after and do the maths. I don't want to use the "Accumulated Total" trip meter as I use this to record the milage between fuel topups, so I can calculate petrol consumption.

Any answers would be appreciated.

It does what it says. “From start” meaning every journey it tells you. Then if you do another off on ignition, it starts again. Simple. PER JOURNEY, from ignition on till ignition off. When you stop and turn ignition off then you can, if you want to, look at the info for that one journey.

I think the "from start" meter has a certain timer. I did notice if I just get out quickly at the gas station or a shop, and then continue driving, it will count it as one trip. However longer stops, probably 30 min plus, will reset it; I have had that in several cars from various brands, not that uncommon to add shorter journeys in quick successions to one. I believe VAG products do the same, whilst Toyotas or Hyundai group reset that even after a few seconds once the engine is stopped.

The other menu, lets call it actual trip meter, only resets if I decide to press the button, so all good there.

Mick78’s answer makes sense as that is what appears to be happening. However, it should be the users right to reset the tip meter, not the manufacturers. As I said I need to be able to record Milage over a period of time with breaks in between. Yes I can use the Accumulate meter but need that for other reasons. My last car, a Nissan Tiida 2008 had two trip meters that continued adding km until reset. Not a hard programming function for these modem computer controlled vehicles. Maybe MG should look at that as an upgrade to their software .

I think the"From Start" meter timer may be around 60min, as on Monday I did a multi-stop trip where I stopped for less than 60min at each stop and and the "From Start" meter did NOT zero out. Still say that it should be the end users right to clear the trip milage NOT MG motors.

You can also manually reset the "from start" by a long press (if you wish to measure shorter trips), but it will automatically reset once the timer is off;

Yer knew that hidden feature. You can reset the Acumulated Total the sane way.

Another function NOT COVERED in the manual that one has to download. You would think that MG would supply a manual with the car when purchased instead of the purchaser having to search the internet to find one. They don’t even provide a link to where you can find the manual. Once you download it (all 300 odd pages) you find that a lot of the features are NOT even covered. You then have to search YouTube for how to access many features. Such as the meters.

Yeah, the user manual situation - or better lack of it - is really poor.
