As subject says:

The external air temp display is saying 40+ degrees, the iSMART app says 13 (which is about right).

The heating will not heat - even on “Hi”.

Has made for a pretty uncomfortable drive to Cornwall this half term!

I’m posting here in the hope that someone knows some magic combination of buttons, service menus, reset procedures etc that will make it work again!

Ta!

I would have instantly said external temperature sensor problem (much experience of said problem) but when mine failed, I had either extreme heat or Ice cold with nothing in between.

Still my problem started with spurious temperature readings so could be....

For me, even “hi” blows cold. We’ll be buying blankets for the 4 hour drive home on Monday…

is "economy" or "eco" enabled in the aircon settings by any chance. there will be no heat in this mode.

Have disconnected the 12v battery for 5 minutes then reconnect it to see if that resets the cars software. You will get so alarms but should clear.

Hi, I think this is the problem I had. Basically when the got the car (Version 1, Trophy Long Range) the heater would stop working after a short while, this was a known fault with a loose connection which the garage fixed. But then there was no relationship between the display and the actual cabin temperature. At the last service I reported this (again) and they did some software updates and this problem is now solved. The garage I use is Richmond MG Portsmouth who seem pretty much on the ball with software bugs. I am not aware that they changed any sensor though.

MG service centre said: it needs a new temp sensor,

They also did a software update which now means “Hi” actually works and pumps out heat now. So at least I have some heating till they replace the sensor!

do you know what version you were on previously out of interest? On my journey out today (got my car on Tuesday- today is 1st real trip out) I had AC on 23 and it was cool, not 23. Having said that, I did a pre heat before I got in the car to de ice it and that worked within 15 minutes....

Mines going in this week to be checked as the heating has never ‘heated’ I do a long drive once a week and it’s been a killer this winter 🥶
