MG4 Trophy ER
Good evening, I’m a new member just collected my 2023 MG4 EV Trophy. I’m looking for some help. I have downloaded the I Smart app. I am struggling to bind my car no QR code when I go to the screen and when I try to login with my phone number and password I get an error message. Any help would be great, the cars amazing otherwise

Good morning, welcome to the forum, congrats on buying a great car.

Couple of questions; what phone do you have, and is the car new-new or new-to-you?

You may also find some more info in this thread;

Thank you it’s a lovely car, I have an iPhone 16. Seems an issue with the system as no QR code appears and even when I try to sign in manually I get an error message. Thanks for the info I will have a look at that post.

Sounds like the car is still bound to the previous owner's account. Email MG customer services with a copy of the V5C and your purchase invoice and request that they unbind the car.

I believe that you can also request unbinding via the iSmart app too.

Also do make sure you upgrade the car's software to the latest version. I still have problems with my car dropping connection to my pixel phone. I hope your iPhone works better.

I've just done that exact (last part of the message) same thing, the car was bound to the previous user's account, when you use the iSmart app you will be offered the option to request they unbind from their end. It gives the previous user 72 hours to action the request, or reject it. If they don't respond (as in my case) then the car is automatically unbound and you can proceed to add your account to the car. Worked smoothly for me, just a bit inconvenient while you wait for the process to work through.

Also what may help is connecting the car to your home wifi first. I couldn't get the car to display the qr code and manual sign in didn't work when using the car's built in mobile connection. Once I connected it to the home wifi I was able to bind it to the app with the qr code.

Cannot remember exact process, but recall reading you cannot connect to more than one device
Connected mine to two phones and my tablet so good luck and keep trying
More than happy with my MG4 ER
