EU MG4 (all variants) - Service campaign SC077 is out, improving lane assist performance

Hi, I am close to buying an MG4 2023 model (new, with a discount as a non 24 build). I would be very interested to know where the VIN list so I can ask/check before I commit. Essentially I don't want to get lumped with a unfixable lane assist issue - it sounds really annoying at least, and a potential danger at worst. If anyone could comment on my concern that would be great.
I wouldn’t worry too much. I have a really early one - they shipped a batch here with the wrong windows in so easy to tell. It used to snatch the wheel like maniac, first update really tamed it with snatching - this latest iteration has basically turned it down even more.

Whilst you may not get the same service campaigns, nothing stops you from having the latest software applied (or doing it yourself at the moment if you are brave).

Finally you can turn it off, annoying as it comes back on each restart and it was only really a nightmare in the 1st form on our country roads. I’ve never been to Aus but I doubt there are so many dingy days with low light, faded markings and roads that are 60mph limit, barely single track and curved all over the place to avoid trees… though I do wish to find out one day.

correct.
But there are 'roos, wombats and quite a few other viscous creatures jumping out at you.

Hey! Totally new here and I'll go to my local dealership (in Sweden) tomorrow to have a look at a used Luxury Long Range. Is there any way to quickly check if the car received the update already?

Not a full update. But you can click on the home button, swipe from right to left, chose setting and then system (I think). There you will see a couple of specs of the software. If you see r46, r59 or r63, you will have a broad indication of the most recent updates.

I got SC077 this morning. On the way there and back I drove with both LKA and TJA on so I could directly compare before and after ... they are both much improved after SC077. :)

LKA is much more of a nudge than a yank, and TJA seems to hold the lane (and recognise the lane too) much better and with far less twitching of the wheel.

I had some software updates done during my last service a few weeks ago and I was told that a very recent update for the LKA was installed.

It's finally behaving itself 🙌 I've been driving it for 2 whole weeks on my regular journeys and a couple of long trips.
I left it turned on the whole time to see how much it had been improved, and the thing hardly went off at all and not once did it take over the steering.
*my driving hasn't improved at all if that's what you're thinking 🤣

Bravo MG, finally! Bravo.

@mods ... can this be merged with the SC077 thread please? :)

In TJA mode, does it take less effort to disengage the lane cantering?

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean.
Lane centering i.e. auto-steer ;)

It does, the feeling is more like you're guiding the car toward either side of the lane than the old "snap" of the auto steer disengaging completely.

Do you know if they calibrated the modules they updated? SC077 for me gives much improved LKA experience but ACC and TJA are still as bad as before. I am 99.9% they did no calibration on mine, persuading them to install the update was hard enough. I'm happy I don't have to turn off LKA on each trip now, even if steering and brakes / acceleration still leave a lot to be desired.

No calibration should be required, feel free to PM me here on the forum and I can check if they did the campaign properly on yours (they need to run 3 updates in total).

If they did, then your car was out of calibration to begin with and needs a new one run.

I got no paperwork so I can't answer, sorry.

Thank you.
I guess it’s now similar to what Kia does with their LFA. (Lane follow assist) which keeps the vehicle centred in the lane as well as follow the vehicle in front.
I would hesitate to call it auto steer as it’s incapable of changing lane as well as taking sharp turns.

One thing I remember happening when last year I had the first upgrade to LKA/TJA, is that fresh out of the dealers immediately following the upgrade it was even worse than before.
I wrote a thread in that regard and took about 50 miles on various dual carriageways to get the system to recognise lane markings properly again.
Several thousand miles later, the system is working very well for me, although the latest SC77 upgrade seems desirable still.
What I did was I left the TJA enabled in the background on standby but not active most of the time, unless I use ACC only.
This has vastly improved its effectiveness and I can only think that as the system runs in the background it self updates some parameters

That's encouraging. I'll try to use it as much as I can over the next few weeks and see what happens 😊

That is indeed possible, I had an out of alignment rear-left radar after a collision with the corresponding dashboard warnings / errors and DTCs. Without starting the calibration procedure from SIPS and just by following the same required driving pattern the car "re-trained" itself clearning any errors.

Granted, the quality of the resulting self-calibration was terrible and it indeed required a physical re-alignment of the radar and a new calibration run.

I have had the LKA/ELK fix for a week now and I have been driving around without disabling any systems to test the car.

It is pretty good now, everything seems to work, I am still expecting some false positive AEB jamming-the-brakes on events, because every car I have owned in the last few years has had that problem. None so far though.

It finally feels like the car is as it should have been at launch, 2.5 years later. Mind you took VW the same time to properly fix the ID.3.
