ZS Hybrid+ Trophy
Hi
New member today, I have test driven a MG ZS+ Trophy and after reading reviews and watching youtube videos I wondered if anyone could tell me if they have encountered problems when buying a new car, google searches show MG as unreliable but obviously the dealers will refute that, so I decided to ask genuine owners for their honest opinion, I have been offered a deal and may be ordering on the 19th Feb, so any advice would be appreciated.
thank you.

I have found the car to be brilliant and I haven’t had a problem in the three months that I’ve had it. So I haven’t, as yet, had any dealings with the dealership. Xx

Thank you, I have got confused looking at videos on YouTube, but when I had the test drive I was impressed with the space, and price.

Thank you, that's good to know

I have had mine coming up 4 months with no issues at all, lot of car for the money paid and really enjoy driving it. I would highly reccommend this car to anyone thinking of buying one.

Thank you, going to look again tomorrow but with a different dealer, not impressed with the last one, I have test driven the Trophy and liked it a lot, easy for me to get into.

I have ordered a ZS Hybrid Trophy yesterday, expect to pick it up in about 2 weeks, thanks to all who have answered my questions and allowed me to make this choice, I asked the dealer with all the latest updates have been installed, he said it will have every update available before collection, will update after I have driven it for a few weeks, got a good price for my car and a very good discount on the new car.

Hello I have got the mg zs trophy hybrid, I went back to the dealer about some over reving to extreme, when I took the car back with the problem they said it was ok. Have you heard of this problem with anyone else?

There are owners on here who have mentioned the same thing, but others have not had any problems at all

Hi Stewart - I have had the exact same issue, collected the car today from the dealership to be told they drove it and didn't notice anything I described. I could be driving at 13 mph and the rev will be at 2+, 50mph it can go over 3.5! This happens constantly each drive! It barely switches into ev mode too - even when driving at low power speeds/conditions. Only had it one month and I really haven't enjoyed driving it at all.

I think that what you are describing is very different to the overrevving, when going up steep hills or overtaking, which has been reported by many new owners.
The software on the ZS+ takes into account many factors, which it uses to arrive at a second by second solution. At this time of year when it’s cold, it has to take into account the services running i.e. lights, aircon, heating et cetera. As a result, you will see the RPM varying, in the way in the way you describe. In addition it will switch in and out of EV mode.
Yesterday the temperature in the Southeast rose to about 8C and my ZS+ reacted by running in EV mode for longer periods.

OK. Hi, there are some tips and tricks to Hybrids esp if you are not too familiar with them.
If the hybrid battery is low the engine will rev to refill it. If you are stealing power from the engine for Heater and AC it has to work harder. For gradients and hills choose Sport mode
. Regen 1,2 or 3 for going downhill depending on severity of slope. Braking also is regenerating the battery.
I too have the high revving problem. Today no hills and window open 1cm only steering wheel on ( works off 12V not hybrid battery) achieved 65mpg 88mins of driving. It gets better as car is run in and car temp gauge is 3 or 4. (See bottom Right)
Hit pages button, right centre on s wheel. Silver toggle over to right x 2 I think? Just past tyre pressure display. Then toggle up or down there are four useful screens there.
