Just had another rear spring go on my Gen2 MGZSEV Trophy LR.
Last one I had hassle to get it replaced under warranty and had to wait six weeks
waiting time frame. This time it was replaced within two days.
However only one can be replaced under warranty but mechanic has recommended replacing in pairs. Any thoughts?

How many miles on your car?

Surprised to hear of springs going early doors.

I wouldn't necessarily change springs in pairs.

Dampers, tyres, and brakes yes, but not springs.

Might be good to get them both done though if it gives you peace of mind.

One went at just over 6500 miles, the next at 15000. Both now replaced.
No quibble second one but first one was a hassle as garage said it was pot hole damage.
Because I have some knowledge of metallurgy and pointed out porosity in the metal, they changed their minds. This garage has since gone into liquidation. Next one was spotted at second year sevice and replaced without any problem, Big shout out for Caffyns Ashford.

How much would one cost outside warranty, any idea?

Springs settle over time and a car will sit lower as a result. On a relatively new car, 1 or 2 years old without too many miles, it doesn't matter so much, but it's good practice, especially on older and/or high mileage cars where you should always change in pairs or you end up with a car that sits leaning to one side.

Yeah, I'm not sure of the set up either, but changing our rear springs is usually a really simple task for those competent in self maintenance.
