I’ve got a question about turning ACC back on while driving.

Scenario:
I’m on the motorway with ACC set to 65 mph. If it turns off—say due to queuing traffic—when I want to turn it back on, it seems I have to either:

  1. Get the car back up to speed before switching ACC on, or
  2. Turn ACC on and then nudge the speed back up using the control knob.
In my MG5, I could just switch ACC back on, and it would remember the previous speed. Is there a way to do this on the MG4?

OK, I think I might know where I’m going wrong. So, once the ACC has been disabled, to re-enable it, I just nudge the control stick up?

I’ve been pressing the button (the steering wheel icon one), which I’m guessing is basically resetting it by mistake.

It's all in the owner's manual:

Adaptive Cruise Resume
After the adaptive cruise control system is paused and
not turned off, it can be reactivated by moving the switch
upward. The target cruise speed will automatically be
set to the target speed before exiting the adaptive cruise
control system.

Doh I totally missed that. Thank you.

I think the translation in the owners manual is not clear about pause and standby modes of ACC, but resuming after a pause is as everyone else has described

answers above if it does turn off, but you can come to a complete stop with it still on and it will pull away again once the traffic moves on
I think it only does that with TJA activated, and only if you haven’t been stationary for too long, in which case you need to tap the accelerator for the car to move off again.

I find the car is a bit slow to respond in TJA anyway, I always get beeps from people assuming I’m not paying attention.

To be clear, it's not a nudge of the lever up, as that increases the speed. You need to pull the lever towards you to re-enable ACC.

if ACC is paused then pushing the left stick upward re-engages the ACC at the previous set speed, it only increases the set speed if the ACC is already active.
