Hi all! Thanks for the add, much appreciated. Looking into getting my first PHEV next week. I have been given the spec of a (phase two) MG EHS 1.5T GDI 258ch PHEV Luxury from 25/03/2024. Having seemingly researched this to death and bored my Wife as well as the rest of the family it seems this model may suffer form dual clutch transmission DCT . I love the car and the finish seems very smart....though have to say I have not driven this one yet, that is for next week. It certainly makes me smile when I look at it....which is more than can be said for my current wagon.....

The price seems very good for me here in France and with the 6 year warranty left what is not to like? Just have a slight nagging noise in my head that things maybe too good to be true......

Been looking for a new to me car and only do about 20 miles max a day...with maybe two 500 mile journeys, xmas holidays, per year, so the PHEV seems ideal. Twas thinking of the Marvel R....which I think is not available in the UK...this is 100% electric with a range of around 220 miles.....but it looks out of this world.....but think the PHEV will suit me better.

Anyhows, back to the practical issue of the this PHEV.....am I being just paranoid? I'll search this forum of course just thought I would throw a bottle in the sea.....

Thanks in advance.

I have Attached a photo, this is the most up to date HS and I believe the gearbox problem has been sorted from what I hear. I had the older one one then there was facelift then this new one.

That the face lift HS and will had the gearbox problem.
I say a problem it’s not a big one you just get used to to it. The first time it happens you think you lost power but comes back. The new replacement for this I believe it will not do this

Thanks for quick response. TBH I have three cars in the running, this one a Marvel R Luxury and a fully loaded Audi e-tron 55. This will be my first electric car and I keep banging my head on the range issues.....and think of my one long xmas journey every year rather than all the small (20 miles max) mostly at other times......at least I have it down to three now. The Marvel R does look sublime but have not driven it but the elephant in the room is the MASSIVE info screen. The Audi is super luxe but from 2019 and range is maybe 170 miles at best.........so any advice gratefully recieved!

I think I can help you there, when I was looking at getting a electric car the range of the ZS was 150 miles and the charging infrastructure was not as good as it is today so went with the HS PHEV. Late last year I went full EV the the range was a worry to start with as I have not got a home charger ( one been fitted week on Friday) and I charge at public charger near work which gives 7kWh free per day then 35p per kilowatt•hour, I have charged at fast chargers to check the car can, and to practise. I would charge to around 85% then would use the granny charger to bring it up to 100% and that will balance the battery as well.
I now do not worry about using an EV and range is not a problem don’t look at the range meter but use the % meter to when you need to charge.
