Hey everyone, this is my first post!
I’m planning to get a 70mai A810 dashcam for my 2024 MG HS PHEV, but I’m not sure how to wire it neatly without a mess of cables.
Can I tap into the power from the box under the rearview mirror? I figured I’d ask here before taking things apart—maybe someone has experience with this.
Thanks in advance! 😊

Hello,@playako

I think that the power supply for that external camera must be from the fuse box in the passenger compartment.

If you want the camera to record with the car parked, due to impacts or vandalism, you should connect it to a free fuse, which maintains the voltage without the car on.

Connecting it to the voltage of the car camera, in the rearview mirror area, can produce unwanted effects.

Hi @playako

Almost certainly yes, but in all the diagrams I have seen, none of them take ground from the fuse box, they take it from a nearby connector

What type of car do you have? Does it have a front RADAR?

It's a MG HS PHEV by front radar do you mean front parking sensors , 360-degree camera and Forward Collision Warning. Yes .

Thanks for the diagram
I'll check this out.

If you don't want the mess of finding and actually getting to the fuses then i used a OBD power cable .. Search for OBD Power Cable for Dash Camera 24 Hours and you will find them . Simply put it in the OBD port ( below the steering wheel) connect to you dash cam ..away you go ..simple and easy.

Yes you have to take into account the type of dash cam you want. Some want a permanent live feed so that it will record if the car is hit even at night. The OBD adapters have a switch that changes mode from 24 hour or until 5 mins after the car has turned off, and a battery monitor , so if the voltage gets to 11.6V it will turn off. If you use your car every few days then i do not think it would be a problem , but if you left it weeks at a time and not used it , then ( the 24 hr mode) may slowly drain the battery. I also think most dash cams have a setting for if you want 24 hour surveillance or not , so there should be lots of flexibility.
