Just had a rapid puncture on the front drivers side and had the AA to recover to home using one of their universal space savers.
Looking online at mobile fitters, and trying to figure out what I want to put on it. I'm erring towards doing both at the same time, but looks to be 5mm left on the passenger side. A few sites are showing the size associated with the reg as 215/55/R17, versus 215/50/R17 which are on the car at the moment.

Any particular recommendations? CrossClimate2 which seem to be a pick of All Season tyres are of course the most expensive of all.

I put CC2's all round on my MG5.
Always change as a pair if going for a different tread pattern.

Is there any any guidance what size the emergency spare should be? Just had a look on ebay at something like this:
Emergency spare

I wanted to try and verify it before buying blindly.

Thanks, mobile tyre guy managed to find an exact match in the end so decided on that rather than replace another tyre as well that had 5/6mm tread on it. They were all dot code 2523 so not that old either.

Going by the jack that looks like a VW group wheel, it will fit but you would need the VW wheel bolts to match. (they have a different taper than the MG) I know I bought the same from eBay with the wheel bolts. I paid £46 for the complete kit delivered.

That's odd, mine were 215/55/17 and I just replaced them with the same size, all 4. Went for the cheapest possible £49 B B rated tyres that so far behave perfectly well. I was buying cheap tyres but rated at least B B for over 15 years now and never had any complaints - and I do drive "pro-actively", sun, rain or snow ...
As for the size, this is what the manual says:

Wheels and Tyres
Wheel size 7.0J×17
Tyre size 215/55 R17 94V
