Seem to have a problem programming the Star buttons on the steering wheel.
Under Convenience menu I can select what functions I want, in my case 360 for left button and ACC for right button.
When I switch off and on again both buttons are set to Vehicle
Any ideas? Thanks for help

Mines doing the same, cars of the dealer next week, along with "service vehicle immediately " and wildly fluctuating inter and exterior temperatures. Will post the outcome

Exactly the same here. I have all the symptoms you mentioned. Had a software update about 2 weeks ago for the Service Immediately problem but that problem is still there.
Let us all know what the engineer finds please. Thanks.

I have also had “service vehicle immediately” the next service due was still on 0 miles so the dealer set it to 15000 miles, it seemed ok but after a few days I still get the same message but not every time. I am trying to figure out under what conditions it occurs, it does not seem to do it if battery fully charged.

My 2025 MG HS Trophy PHEV was one of the first batch into the UK and I took ownership mid-October 2024. As such, I believe it's running an earlier software version and the 'star' keys work fine.

I did notice when I was first wandering around the display menus that the first service was showing on the 'status' screen as 'next service due in 6000 miles', rather than the correct 15000 miles. It wasn't something to overly concern me and I forgot to mention it to the supplying dealer when it went in twice for minor snags to be rectified.

Ten days ago, at around the 6000 mile point, it flagged up with the 'service vehicle immediately' and has done at every start since. The service due figure, now being 0 miles.

I called in to another dealer - a new one that is closer and more convenient and explained the service due alert and they looked on the MG system and said that the supplying dealer had, for some reason, put on the car's record that they had serviced the car, rather than PDI-ing it.

They also said I would have to go back to the supplying dealer to have them change it. I think this may be more in fear of not being paid for their labour as a 'warranty' job than anything. I explained that it won't be going back there due to the after-sales muppetry that I encountered when they were rectifying the original two snags.

I've now spoken to MG customer service and explained the situation to them and they are going to look into it. When MG said I would have to take the car back to the supplying dealer, they accepted that wasn't going to happen - as I pointed out, if I had moved 300 miles away, they wouldn't be telling me I had to do that.

Given that others on this thread are suffering the same fault, I can highlight this to MG that it may be a wider issue than finger trouble by the supplying dealer.

Probably by coincidence, the same day the service alert flagged up, the front camera has gone off line so I have lost the speed sign recognition facility and as a result, the cruise control as well. I can live without them for now given I have reasonable right foot control and a windscreen to see the signs through!

I'm hesitant to have a software update if the current loss of the star keys is still a problem and also it appears the 6000 mile service due is there even with the later SW version.

Fortunately, neither issue has caused me to regret buying the car, which I still think is a brilliant vehicle!

I have a brand new 2025 version and I have been able to program the star keys as required and they stay after turning off an on again

I was just saying that as it's a new car - likely to have the latest software, and the programming o the star key works as expected - so if there is an update for slightly older vehicles, then it's likely to work.

Hi, PHEV Thophy? what SW version do you have? Number version ending on R55? R49? R46?

Thanks in advance

Has anyone found a work around for this? I took delivery of mine 10 days ago and cant get the star buttons to work at all. Thanks

My car purchased early November is currently sat in the garage after going in for the speed recognition fault sorting
The garage performed an update/recall which sorted that issue but now the heating system control has failed before we had chance even to drive it off the forecourt. Replacement part ordered but will take at least 3 weeks to come. We are currently driving around in a courtesy car not quite what I expected after buying a new car. Will update as and when issue solved.

I find the ride excellent. With the deep side wall tyres, the ride is very comfortable but not overly so. My previous car was a Skoda Superb Sportline PHEV with electric adjusted shock absorbers and low profile tyres. The MG is a more comfortable ride than the Superb, not at all wallowy as the Superb was in normal mode, and not as hard when in sport mode - mainly thanks to the tyres. The MG also holds the road very well, not much body roll and is very quiet.

Many thanks for the update and sorry to hear you have another issue. Hopefully it'll get sorted quicker than forecast...

I'll let you know how I get on - mine goes in the week after Easter for the speed sign recognition problem to be looked at.

If you don’t wait for the infotainment system to boot and the car dash also to boot, then you’ll have ton of problems and alerts, as in service now, frontal camera obstruction, radar not working, etc. You need to wait for a bit before actually driving. The car just has really fragile software and not really user proofed…

Thank you for your thoughts but I'd hazard a guess that as my car had the 'next service due' set to 6000 miles from new and since it got to 6000 miles it flags up that a service is due, I reckon the two might just be connected, rather than it being down to my start up routine....

I haven't changed my start up procedure in the 5 months from new so it is unlikely to be operator error with the service due alert or the speed limit sign recognition failing.

You’re most probably right, I just wanted to share my experience. Just to be clear: I wouldn’t qualify not waiting for a car to boot as operator error. A modern car should have a robust start up procedure, without excessive operator care. It’s not exactly a space shuttle…

Agreed, but that's the modern world we live in. Gone are the days of putting the key in the ignition, pulling out the choke etc....

My previous Skoda Superb iV (PHEV) took longer to get going on start up than the HS - just because of the time it took the infotainment system to accept my iPhone being plugged in for CarPlay and that was every time!

For me, by the time I put my seat belt on, set it to Sport, switch off the NCAP-required safety bongs (that I don't want), the iPhone is sorted and off I go.

Love the car. I must admit that yesterday on a single carriageway A-road, the available overtaking power in the HS PHEV is just brilliant....!
