"Windscreen reservoir service" - Is this new main dealer bolloxspeak?

I had my ZS EV in for it's service this week and after paying £300.02, I looked over the receipt and asked exactly what they'd done.
He said they'd performed a visual inspection, increased the level of the brake fluid and carried out a windscreen reservoir service.
So in normal speak... They'd had a look at stuff, topped up the brake fluid and then stuck in a litre of screenwash!
300 quid thank you!

This was bad enough, but then they pulled the old "your rear brake disc are scored and your pads are worn" trick that is well documented on these forums.
The price quoted for this job was £475 and he informed me that I could wait in the dealership and it would take about an hour.
As quality parts for a non-trade person like me cost about £100, this means they are charging £375 per hour.

Obviously I said I'd think about it

Vertu Edinburgh West if you are interested.

What a rip off, Mine is in for a third service, MOT and a new charge port door and I've been quoted under £500 all in.

That's a new one on me.
Did you have a detailed breakdown of your bill?

My wife has just had new front brake pads and discs at our local garage £200 cash.
They said that they have replaced rear discs on a few EV and it would be a similar price.

The £300 bill for the service was menu priced and the invoice did have a list with various items that were all ticked in the correct check box. It did also came with the ubiquitous "vehicle health check" video - which is nice 😕

Still took less than hour though - Money for nothing IMO

deduct costs of 1 year AA cover from £300 and you'll feel a tad better ...🙂. call that MG assistance number to check they added free AA cover. consider spreading servicing costs over the number of years with monthly direct debit, you can get quotes on MG website

You need to take into account the dealers cost of running his business, rates, utility bills, interest payments, plant depreciation, wage and training costs. Once you do you will realising its not the 'money for nothing' operation you may think.
