The other consideration is the ER's are rarer, so less to choose between when looking at used vehicles.
Ours (gas boiler for CH and HW) uses about 100W when it is running. The actual boilers themselves don't use much power, it is the water circulation pump that will typically be in the 60W to 90W range for an average sized house.
As above, when it is running and pumping it is consuming power...
Personally I doubt an "update" will fix an AC charging issue. Something is broken. And it might not be a quick fix. @Ian Key's took 4.5 months and he had to DC charge meanwhile :(

It is all generated from the sun, ultimately. Just some of it was generated a long time ago.
All my daytime charging is from direct solar, so 3p per mile is an even more eye-watering infinity % :)
