    MG4 in Australia

I tend to ignore the money I put into Solar and battery for the house as it just becomes part of the overall house value but I’ve spent AU$9500 on fuel between May2020 and Oct 2023 when I bought the MG. That’s $230/mth on diesel and ULP and to date my outlay on public charging is $18.53/ mth. If...

    MG4 in Australia

Most of my charging from solar is free as I do it during the day when my solar is exporting and the house is using all it needs. Estimate that it costs 1 cent/km for me to drive.

    MG4 in Australia

ICE drivers seem to imply that they fill ‘er up and drive 600-800kms virtually non-stop till they need to fill up again. They apply this ‘mythical’ narrative to EVs when reality for me is a two hour drive…20-30 min break and charge, and off we go again. The problem I’m encountering is that...

    MG4 in Australia

I’m not worried by the cost of these chargers, it represents a small (<20%) of my charging and to date has cost less than $280 in my 19000kms of driving. Home charging is well below 2 cents/km so I’m happy to pay for the convenience of a supercharger whenever I’m away from home.

The longer that situation remains, the better for business in Yass…drove past the supercharger today and it was full and being in the backyard effectively of the Club House Hotel and half a block from the Main Street, it must be bringing in some cashflow for the pub and local cafes.

    MG4 in Australia

Just found the thread, I’ve had my 64 Excite for 14 months, done 19,000km and absolutely loving it. I am not interested in software, has no issues and may get an update at the first service (40,000km) but…meh! Just love driving it, LKA is a non-issue, it just keeps you alert and concentrating on...

Is my MG4 miles/kWh trying to gaslight me?

Getting 400-420km in my MG64 here in Oz. About 4.1 miles per kWh(Summer), drops to 360-380 km in winter.

Lane Assist Trying To Kill Me!

Unpopular opinion from an Aussie, but I reckon LKA exposes the way people drive these days by intervening when drivers attention is distracted by everything from devices to doing their lipstick. When driving, concentrate on just that and you won’t be rudely distracted by being reminded that you...

    MG4, not a good car.

Cannot fault mine after 12 months and 1200kms.

    Left star button problem

Same in Oz, left Star wants to do drive mode all the time. We need A/C a lot here and tried to assign it to left button but won’t stay. Fortunately A/C goes well on right side and when not activated , works the volume and track ok. Left button is mere decoration atm.

    Battery health after 1 year?

Not expecting much degradation, charge at home to 80% mostly via the Sun and only go to 100% the day before a big trip.

    Lane keeping assist

I’ve read comments on ICE car pages and forums where the LKA is an issue just as much as it is here…my solution is to be much more focused (a good thing) on my driving. It’s hard as I’ve a farming background and have worked in the industry all my life and I do like a good look around at the...

    Power consumption

Being in the land of Oz, we have a climate that oscillates between 40+deg summers and Winter nights down to -5 (and below) , will be interesting to see what effect the nights will have. Interested in anyone’s experience of frosty morning drives as that is probably the main cold weather we...

Pics of other cars you've had.?

Look, I went back a bit to myself at 10yo on the farm in Australia. My siblings and I sitting in the 1927 Chev truck I learnt to drive in and used around the property. Used to do handbrake turns on the airstrip for a lark.

Leaving the car for most of February

I assumed the 2% drop per week maintained the 12v charge…car worked perfectly on the drive home. My BIL knows a Tesla owner who couldn’t start his car after a similar time parked.

Active Cruise & cornering, is this an issue?

I use the SNOW mode on long trips as it has low regen braking and it does slow on some sharper bends. Not a concern for me.

Leaving the car for most of February

Left ours at Canberra airport for 6 weeks after driving to the city (70km). Battery was about 70% when we let it, lost 12% in 6 weeks, 12V battery was fine. I have a jump starter but don’t usually carry it with me.
