Impact of KERS on tyre wear

That's why I don't use auto-brake. I noticed it was blinding drivers behind me, so better to use the handbrake instead! (As you're supposed to anyway if you'll stopped for more than four to five seconds...)

Impact of KERS on tyre wear

So, you would fail your driving test, and are aggravating drivers behind you whenever you do that (incorrectly keep your foot stamped on the brake pedal) the hand brake comes on and off with a touch of the centre of the drive knob, why do you think it's so prominent?? You will also burn out...

Impact of KERS on tyre wear

I think that's in an ICE where you have to push the clutch to put it back in gear. In an EV, you can cover the brake and put it in "Drive" in a fraction of a second.

Impact of KERS on tyre wear

I have sensitive eyes, and don't like being blinded by high-intensity brake lights at close range. I usually have to put my hand blocking the brake lights of the idiot in front. Last night it was a Tesla S, and he quickly learnt to use the hand brake when stationary!

Impact of KERS on tyre wear

I have regularly slowed from 80mph to 20 leaving the motorway without touching the brake pedal. unfortunately my MG5 does not slow to a stop by regen, but about 6mph on the flat. I usually put in Neutral and coast to a stop! brakes are for emergencies, slowing to a final stop, or if you're...

    MG5 battery upgrades

I haven't fitted the LR battery yet, but that's the plan. I wish I had 200Ah modules, then I would have a 300mile range estate car!

    Changing light bulbs

I think the dealer would expect people to change their own light bulbs! Take it to Halfords if you're not practically inclined. I was changing whole headlight assys on my MG5, even that's not too complicated! Chinese LED bulbs never last as long as they claim! and they are usually cheap to buy...

    HV battery shut-off

I solved my "system fault" HV battery cut-out, that had disabled the (MG5 jan 2021) car for several days. As I'm an electronics engineer, with knowledge of EV's and their foibles, I remembered I'd been driving an hour in heavy rain, and something HV may have got wetter than usual. So, after...

So, Long Range you say ?

I've done 202 on a MG5 SR, with 11% left on the battery. and it said 181miles range when I started! All depends how you drive it. You crack the front windows open when it does that, and the condensation clears... A good way to save range/heating in winter is to put a fan heater in the car the...

Fault still exists, I charged the LV battery to 14.4V yesterday, still not resetting, I have no working car! MG service is booking into December. I have the guy who found the crash sensor problem coming Thursday. I'm an electronics engineer myself, I have an OBDII fault code reader in the car...

MG5 System Fault - HV Battery Shut Off

It happened to me this morning driving 70mph down the M3, LV batt on 13.8V! As soon as I stopped (at a junction) it cut the HV battery. It's something else, you need a tech with the MG software on their laptop to diagnose the fault, I believe it's "catch all" fault, the worst thing thing is is...

    MG5 System Fault Help Please

Yes, it's amazing how many people don't know this basic aspect of electricity! ? Someone on a YouTube video also disconnected both terminals. Unfortunately, disconnecting the 12 volt battery for 5 minutes or leaving the car locked for 10 minutes does not clear this fault, for me at least...

Impact of KERS on tyre wear

Neutral: Yes, I do it all the time, it just won't let you put it in reverse >1mph!! ? It can be beneficial for saving charge, because on a mild hill, regen is awkward to balance in traffic, but neutral can achieve 1 amp. Then when you want to slow down, back to Drive, and the regen kicks in. you...
