First long run out and thumbs up

Me too, Octopus IOG, rarely go far in the car but good to know I can do it at reasonable cost. 1200 miles in with a healthy mix of driving and consistently getting 280 miles per tank so I’m very happy. The 5SE was around 3.8 average, the XPower much lower around 3.1, the S5 is consistently high...

First long run out and thumbs up

Rattled up 500-odd miles over the weekend, charged 3 times at total of £75 and need to top up now I’m home. Averaged 4.0mpkwh. Fag Packet maths: £80/500 = 16p/mile. Comparable to 40mpg ICE so bearable enough. As stated it’s actually free electric from Electroverse, I’ll never use that £300...

First long run out and thumbs up

I removed the shelf and floor, bought a great boot liner from Amazon so it protects everything. Vast amount of boot space, still carried the T2 lead. Only issue is the dog blanket slides around on the Trophy seats so will get a tie on seat cover. The ACC and TJA did brilliantly on the inevitable...

First long run out and thumbs up

Six weeks into S5 ownership and following on from FL5SE and 4XP I’m very happy. First full trip down to Cornwall, three adults, dog and a boot full, brimmed the tank at home. 200 miles to the first charge stop as planned, motorway all the way, GOM gave 319 at the start, got there with 37% left...

    18" Alloy Wheels

Plus for what it’s worth, I took the covers off my FL5SE and they stayed off, such a faff to remove I dreaded doing that at the side of the road!

    18" Alloy Wheels

I’m looking into some aftermarket alloys for my S5 but keeping the stock tyres, can’t find the ET for the OEM alloys though. I have an excellent longstanding wheel dealer just down the road. Around £600 for a set of brand new properly specced alloys and fittings, seems much cheaper than the...

Changed up again, MGS5 on the drive

My advice is enjoy it! But before long you’ll know that, and be getting the EV buzz. I’ll never look back…. Although I still have ICE bike and RV, daily EV is a breath of fresh air. I’m on my 3rd MG EV in 12 months and that’s simply because I’ve been getting no-brainer upgrades from my main...

Changed up again, MGS5 on the drive

Mine is currently GOMing about 300/tank 😊 MPK is hovering around 5 and although it’s warm I’m not driving any more carefully.

Changed up again, MGS5 on the drive

Curiously, today I was tailgated on a moderately fast twisty A-road. The offending A5 was getting on my nerves so as the road straightened out I switched to Sport mode, mashed the pedal and left it for dust. I swear I lit up the back tyres in doing so. My old XP would clearly have done more but...

Changed up again, MGS5 on the drive

Mine was a snap campaign by MG from 24-30 June. Original deal (taking out the smallish neg equity in my 3 month old XPower) was nil deposit, 48x261 and 13500 balloon over 6k pa. This was for new unregistered in-stock-on-site cars. MG had initially set a 2.9 APR but pulled that overnight on 24/25...

I do agree but suddenly my wish list has expanded a bit… Taking each idea one by one..

Changed up again, MGS5 on the drive

It’s definitely on the bucket list, might defer my pension a year or two and stay on at work to get one! My Dad held off buying an MGF until they’d dropped below 10k, same thinking here (though I doubt they’ll ever get down to that figure - hopefully they’ll start with a 2 in a few years time….) 🤞

I think it’s got the £400-odd luxury car top up.

Changed up again, MGS5 on the drive

I bet they will! Every car I’ve had from them has been at least 30% discounted…😉 (Actually it’s the eye watering road tax that makes it a 5 year plan….)

Changed up again, MGS5 on the drive

I think I’m going to buy a 5 year old Cyberster when I can. My little pipe dream….

Now that is a good answer!

Changed up again, MGS5 on the drive

My 5SE had rear speakers, lights, cup holders and armrest, the ZS Excite didn’t (ok, low spec) but neither did the XPower. At least they don’t do the Rover skinflint thing like Noddy hooters, that was unforgivable even back then.

Changed up again, MGS5 on the drive

I’m not knocking the 4 stalks per se, but several times when I pushed for main beam I flicked the lights off. But the main benefit of the OG stalks is the fog light switch is there not in the far corner of the screen - for when that car behind hasn’t dipped his lights. Oh and the S5 doesn’t have...

Changed up again, MGS5 on the drive

I turned the voice volume off on the screen and don’t get the interruptions now 🤞 Strangely while the regen defaults to 1 every time now I’ve turned on one pedal driving it does default to that. OPD is very good and not harsh like it was on the XP so I’ll leave that on. But the economy/range is...

Changed up again, MGS5 on the drive

😊 Still getting the speed warning even though it’s switched off.. Also the regen defaults to 1 and needs switching up every time. Plus points the ac is excellent and the economy too. Still pleased with it 👍
