Do you use AC in winter?

Definitely. Couldn't see anything with my dog in the back of the car if I didn't use it. Even with heated seats and steering wheel (standard range bonus equipment in colder countries) I need to use it just to keep windows clear.

    First year battery capacity loss.

Did anyone get a test certificate when buying the car that the battery actually is 51kWh or 64kWh? I don't think using counterfeit battery cells is a non-issue when talking about anything that is made in China and as cars are mass produced in huge amounts and it is very easy to "cheat" just a...

    First year battery capacity loss.

True, especially for NMC. In the manual it says that equalization should be performed monthly, however.

    First year battery capacity loss.

I didn't know not balancing weekly is detrimental to battery health. I thought charging it to 100% daily is worse, as is the case with all li-ion type batteries. Can LFP be forced to balance below 100% ?

if you ever wonder what is the REAL range of 100%-0% in the SR ... you'll be surprised by this experiment.

Mathematically this does not make sense. With 14.2kWh/100km average efficiency and 442 kilometers driven equals to a 62kWh battery, which is long range, not standard.

    MG4 Range

Winter range estimation at full battery seems to be way off - it is constantly showing 270 kilometers at 100%, but only about 110km at 50% despite efficiency being the same all the time (~20kWh/100km). I have used equalization charging frequently. It would seem the estimation at full battery is...

Indications for using battery heating (now the weather is getting colder)

For me the important question is, will it ruin the battery if it is never used under below freezing conditions and shorts trips. Because for whatever reason, the car is still regenerating as I leave my parking space, even if it is -8C outside - it should not regenerate at all due to lithium...

    Ismart woes

I would appreciate if iSmart allowed me to set charging limit to 80% for my SR LFP - it is certainly enough for my daily use and still better for battery health, escpecially if charging daily. Because the limit cannot be set, I avoid charging daily and let the SoC drop to around 30% and only...

    MG4 Software Update Thread

USB player works perfectly on my SE SR R19, I use it all the time. I have a USB type A stick attached to USB type C port with an adapter.

A new minor software glitch at low temperatures !!

I've always had it only once after sitting down in the vehicle, never during the drive. "Another sloppy bit of programming." We can only hope the BMS is not programmed by the same people who made the car's firmware or the horrendous iSmart app. Otherwise it would be hard to expect long battery...

Is the defogger really that bad?

It is certainly normal. When A/C is on at the start of journey, the consumption goes to 29.8kWh per 100km and stays there for a while until it starts slowly dropping. If the trip is long enough, it will eventually settle to around 17-20kWh depending on how you drive, at about 0 degrees celsius.

MG4 Intelligent battery heating on SE?

I haven't seen any advantages of "Intelligent Battery Heating" even at sub zero temperatures but I don't rapid charge very often. Someone should do a test about rapid charging speed between warmed up battery and cold battery using a charger that is consistent. What's odd I'm also getting pretty...

    MG4 Software Update Thread

This LKA thing is one of the worst "safety features" I've ever seen under any context. It actually encourages driving drunk/tired and is incredibly dangerous on snowy finnish roads if left on. The 5-star NCAP rating sounds like a joke because I would not give a single star for safety if this...

MG4 Intelligent battery heating on SE?

Sounds like a marketing term. If the battery's not warm (to a certain degree), turn up heat. Otherwise don't. That's all there is to it.

    MG4 Software Update Thread

My 51kWh standard range is R19 and my dealer said it is the latest version a few weeks ago, yet the above quote is a year old. However, I haven't had any serious problems with the software (apart from stupid lane assistance) so if it works, don't fix it. I don't even need the outdoor temperature.

    Trophy Sound System

Does Trophy use the same bass and tweeter drivers as the SR?

    Range estimation at -30 celsius?

I don't think it'll be useless. The climate's supposed to get warmer every year here in the northern hemisphere after all... The positive thing is the SR comes with heated seats and steering wheel in my country. Still no heat pump tho, although at -30C it'd be pretty much worthless.

    Range estimation at -30 celsius?

It's a SR. And yes, I happened to read the thread on Tesla forum where some guy shared his experience in extreme cold temperature, such as car not charging at all and "forget about it" at -30C. (found the link on this forum). Let's see how it goes when it gets very cold, as it always does.

    Range estimation at -30 celsius?

At worst the temperature can drop below -30 celsius here in Finland during winter. Is there any data on what kind of range (or problems) is to be expected at that low temp? It seems most cars here in Europe are sold in England where it never gets that cold.

    Yellow battery gauge

I've seen this happen twice on my SR during the first 2000 kilometers. My guess is it is simply an easter egg from one of the many talented software engineers @ MG who love to chuckle at threads like this.
