You don't need a powerful one as you aren't turning an engine over just powering up a few relays etc.

I don't think you are far wrong. I've never had any real problems connecting but for the last 20 hours the app times out. It's going to be an exercise in patience waiting for MG to rectify the problem...again.
On android go into settings, apps, see all apps, scroll down to MG iSmart and select it, select Storage and cache, clear storage (not just the cache). You will have to sign in again using your original login details.
Just tried mine and it opens OK at -4°C. That's with silicone on the rubber seal, the hinge and in the locking mechanism. I also use a rain cover when charging to keep snow and rain out.
Another option is to put one of those disposable dehumidifier packs in the centre tray. I put one in mine and although it's only been there for a couple of days it seems to work.
Why don't you have the heater on? It only costs a couple of pence in electricity to be warm and have condensation free windows unless you are a massochist or trying to do the maximum mileage between charges. .
