MG4 motor broken (first in the World???)

Was it the driveshafts that had vertical movement before the 'big bang' occurred ?

MG4 motor broken (first in the World???)

Always thought that 900ml was a fairly small quantity of oil, never mind the 600ml these units will settle to with the leak in full flow. I wonder if the extreme temp of summer in Spain is thinning this lube to the point of complete failure of the boundary lubrication needed to keep the...

MG4 motor broken (first in the World???)

Good lord, that's a pretty spectacular failure ! The motor output support bearing has busted through what looks like a pretty thin casing  Diff ring gear has escaped through the bottom too. Catastrophic failure due to inadequate lubrication would seem to be a distinct possibility...

    Blinded by the price!

There's a fair few model 3's around here I've noticed, always look pug ugly when they're coming towards you IMO, think it's that huge windscreen. Do look better in dark colours rather than the common white. Can't argue with the efficiency, reliability, no servicing and charging network though it...

    MG4 Reduction Gearbox Oil Leak

Jeepers, you're certainly putting the miles on ! Good to know it's holding 800ml, I think you'll be fine with that if you're on a 20k change schedule. Weird how its turned black yet again though  I wonder if it's break in silt still in suspension or as a result of oxidation due to heat...

    MG4 Door card removal?

I've had both rear door cards off mine to fit speakers. What I would say is the clips are slightly unpredictable regarding how easy they'll let go. Some pop out of the inner door steel quite willingly but some hung on for their life and risked cracking the door card. For the difficult ones, I...

    Charging speed query

Think the 16amp cables have a 680 ohm resistor on the pp pin to set the max current, while the 32amp cables have a 220 ohm. Could be the issue.

    MG4 X-Power waiting area

He doesn't suffer fools gladly so it's probably just as well ;)

    MG4 X-Power waiting area

Indeed, bonkers performance for the price. I was just thinking about a clear memory I have from 1986 reading about the then new Sierra Cosworth . 0 - 60 in 6.2 sec, 200hp, it was enough to make a teenage lad ill with desire ? If only I had a hope in hell of finding the £15,995 ? According to an...

    MG4 X-Power waiting area

I wouldn't be surprised if they've gone for the cheapest, simplest off the shelf solution and hoped no one noticed. 'Whaddya expect for the price?' should really be their official mission statement rather than 'Get more' ;)

    MG4 X-Power waiting area

Hmm, it's not really MG's MO so far though is it  If this vibration/ resonance is a 'thing' you're probably going to have to live with it. I would be interested to find out what type of motor set up SAIC have gone for with the front assembly. If its an induction motor or decoupling...

    MG4 Range

So the larger battery cars spout the same drivel as my standard. I can approach WLTP if I run it to 2 % or so and have been driving sensibly in warm weather - 48kWh x 4.5m/kWh =216 miles is possible, I've done it. So if you drive till empty, there's your 220, but who does that other than the...

    MG4 Undertray dip/bulge

Hangs down the best part of half an inch on my one, had my undertray on and off many times trying to solve the oil leak, definitely not an illusion. One of many head scratching design decisions on this car IMO.

    MG4 Undertray dip/bulge

The only problem I have with the idea of a redesigned undertray solving the issue is that it won't change the rather odd design where the BMS ( I think ) box hangs down around 10mm lower than the surrounding structure. The undertray curves around this like an afterthought. Does it need to be in...

First service - experience of charges out there

Surely they should be aware of the 4's self flushing / oil ejecting feature ? Modern tech is amazing.

    MG4 Undertray dip/bulge

I think that with ICE cars we simply don't notice small changes, the fuel is just so energy dense. Also, I wonder if missing a front undertray will have less effect than a rear ? Air piling up behind the back bumper might result in more of a 'parachute effect' on the car  I just...

    Rubbish windscreen washers.

Find that my jets hit the screen just fine and have never been tempted to adjust them but THAT wiper motor noise on these cars  Haven't noticed anyone else mentioning it but it seems to be noisier than any car I've ever owned, wheeeee wheeeee wheeeee wheeeeeeee, even at 60mph ! I tend to...
