    battery chemistry

Just in front of the near side rear wheel. On the side of the battery casing. Says NCM on mine. I'm not aware of any saying LFP.

    battery chemistry

As far as I'm aware all UK MG5s are NMC. It's easy to check the label on the battery.

    5LR Power

Sport mode is essential if you ever find yourself at the front of the lights queue alongside a BMW or Audi. It's a fine art maximising acceleration while avoiding wheel spin. If you've never tried it then you've missed out.

    MG5 Long Range - real range ?

Your thread title says 'real range' but you're talking about the GOM which is completely irrelevant. I'm averaging about 180 miles (extrapolated from percentage used) over the winter in my SR. You'd expect about 15% further in the LR so 205 miles would be about right.

    Off peak charging cost

30p per kWh is only 2p above the April price cap. Octopus Go is comparatively better value now than it's ever been.

    Connected, uncharged.

I've got a Zappi, which can work around the MG's software limitations. It can be clunky (slow to restart charging) but it works.

    Off peak charging cost

As far as I can tell, Good Energy are not accepting new customers for any of their EV tariffs. Octopus, however, definitely are. I switched to Go in January. Referral codes are still working fine if anyone wants £50 for joining. Mine is super-mist-515

    Connected, uncharged.

I'm fairly sure that the MG charging software is far from compliant with the type 2 standards. Unfortunately you've bought an EVSE which lacks the flexibility to work around the MG's shortcomings.

Realistic range for mg ev5 long-range

I actually achieved about 250 miles in my SR so I imagine close to 300 is attainable but only at < 50mph.

Process to get 250 Miles shown on full charge - MG5 Long Range

    Ignore the GOM. It's meaningless.

    Hypervolt charging an MG5LR

How do you know the charging has stopped? The car (rather deceptively) says "100% finished" while balancing and "Connected, uncharged" when it is in fact full charged.

How accurate is the Miles/ KwH measurement

I calculated that it wastes at least 1kWh every time you charge to full. Charging losses are typically over 10%. My experience is that the miles per kWh figure as reported by the car uses a bayesian average which tends towards 3. In the summer mine was clearly under reporting by about 15%.

Good Practice for Battery Life and Home Charging

There's a slight benefit in winter to charging as close as possible to your departure time. The battery retains some heat from charging and is therefore more efficient in the early part of your journey.

    Battery Longevity

I imagine it would cost about £5k to swap out an MG5 battery with a reconditioned one in 10 years time. More likely would be to swap just a couple of modules for a few hundred £. Not a big deal really.

    Help: Rapid chargers nightmare

There's a bit of a dark art to rapid charging and you soon get used to spotting when it's going wrong in the initial handshake. Car off, plug in, lock doors, initiate charge, listen for the right noises, hold the charging cable firmly in place, hope... If it fails then try again, and don't worry...

Anyone know anything about Solar PV and Batteries

There is a small edge-case for using a battery to supplement insufficient solar surplus to charge the car, particularly when the battery is already full. Say you're exporting 1kW to the grid but the car requires 1.4kW minimum to charge, the battery could make up that 400W shortfall for a while...

Just test drove the MG5 - very quick!

You can lock the doors when the car is on, but it's not straightforward - driver's window down then reach in and press the door lock button then raise the window and quickly move your arm; then you have to use the physical key to get back in, by removing the back part of the driver's door handle.

    Max range and warmth

I wouldn't trust the miles/kWh reading as any kind of indication of the actual efficiency. It always starts at 3 then takes a while to deviate. Just look at how fast your percentage is dropping compared to the miles covered.

MG5 LR & zappi home charger

Yes, fine to ask any questions. I don't have notifications turned on so only get messages when I happen to browse the forum. Yes, it's possible (but fiddly) to use it without the app; I'm not sure why you'd choose to do so. As stated in the email, the grant is contingent on it being installed...
