    Guess the time!

Sorry - late reply. I had a similar oddity a week or two ago in Goth Leo, our SE LR. The central display was correct, but the driver's display was drunk, claiming it was, eg 12:52 when the main display correctly said 9:15, or whatever. The point was, the driver display wasn't showing a different...

    EV Charging in Scotland Unfair

Well off topic now, but I think you may be mistaking the Highland Council for a well-run tier of local government.

    EV Charging in Scotland Unfair

Yup. It gets worse. At the committee meeting where they resolved to increase the chargers by 130%, the votes were tied at 8 a piece. The chair cast a deciding vote. But one councillor was late, after having a problem with.... charging her EV. Her vote would have swung it the other way. See...

    EV Charging in Scotland Unfair

Oy! What back of nowhere? This is Centre of the (known) Universe, you know. The chargers in Lochinver, like many ChargePlace Scotland-managed chargers in the Highlands, are owned by the Highland Council. All Highland Council chargers are 35p for slow chargers and 70p for fast charging. (ie, not...

Ooh, Goth Leo is due a software update

Just to let the hive mind here know I phoned the local (well, 100 miles away is local around here) dealer from whom we bought Goth Leo 3 months ago, to make sure that some annoying error messages have been logged. Nothing excessive, problematic or frequent, and nothing folk here don't know about...

Is The MG4 The Most Enjoyable Car To Drive That You Have Owned.

I had some dashcam footage of nipping up and down those hills this last winter in our trusty Panda 4x4. But in a previous front wheel drive Panda, with just a light dusting, I thought I'd have to walk for it, as the car tacked from one side of the road to the other. I think we may get up Sròn...

Is The MG4 The Most Enjoyable Car To Drive That You Have Owned.

I I'm sure the tyres are just fine, and I can't speak for all those talking about tyres, but we live in the far north west of Scotland, and have learnt that tyres suitable for winter conditions tend to be safer than harder-wearing summer-style tyres. Also generally, tread patterns on...

Is The MG4 The Most Enjoyable Car To Drive That You Have Owned.

Our previous car, LeoOB, was a diesel Panda 4x4. That was factory-specced with winter tyres for year-round driving. I wondered about it at the time, and the conclusion was that our climate here is temperate enough for the winter tyres to stay on the car. So we always replaced with winter tyres...

Is The MG4 The Most Enjoyable Car To Drive That You Have Owned.

Perhaps less of an issue for you in Devon. I'm thinking about Michelin Cross Climates. A few folk here on the forum seem to have them and think highly of them. I'm open to other suggestions, but I'd feel happier with all-seasons on the car. Seems a waste of the factory tyres, but better safer...

Is The MG4 The Most Enjoyable Car To Drive That You Have Owned.

Well, we used to own a Range Rover (classic - the good ones!) and that was pretty fabulous. And at the time we could afford the 18.5mpg that it consumed. But yes, you are right. The MG4 is an utter joy. On our narrow twisty single-track roads it's utterly glued to the road. The only thing that...

    Carry a charging cable?

This worried us when we bought our car too. We asked for an MG cable, then learnt that, as @Tight Git says, it's a single-phase cable best suited to the SE SR, while the SE LR and Trophy can charge at 11kW 3-phase rather than 7kW single phase. We ended up more confused when looking at...

Do I have a charging problem?

Thanks for that. All experiences welcome. We came across one charger in Melrose which we could not get to work, when someone came along and said "Oh, you have to reset that every time if you want to charge there." We tried, but it didn't seem to work. Later, chatting to someone at a different...

Do I have a charging problem?

Yes re LKA - I would not pay for it as an option, but I understand why it's there, even though it's a chocolate teapot, no matter how well it behaves, on our roads. That experience is another good example of the value of this forum - someone else took their car down to 4% so that we didn't...

Do I have a charging problem?

May I just end this saga by saying that it's an example of the biggest change we faced since getting our MG4, the step from having a relatively unsophisticated ICE car to one that is, well, a software-defined car. It really is necessary to understand the software systems to a greater extent, so...

Do I have a charging problem?

Very good of you to suggest that it's not me being a numpty. Experience suggests differently. ;) It didn't even occur to me that the target could be changed. Once again, this forum comes to the rescue. Thanks to both you and @Ian Key It's really not been hard, provided you make sure you don't...

Do I have a charging problem?

Oh, thanks so much for that. So it is possibly or likely that I must have simply nerfed the slider inadvertently down to 60%. That would account for for all of the issues we had charging. The only concern that remains is that stuck 50% SOC. Can't tell you how relieved I am. Very grateful.

Do I have a charging problem?

I'm not sure. I just check the iSmart app, and if it's on a fast charger it seems to set it at 80%. That's why I was wondering why it was set at 60% when we finally got to a working charger. Is that user configurable?

Do I have a charging problem?

I think we have just experienced A Series of Unfortunate Events. but may I ask for the collective wisdom of the forum, please. On Friday we slow charged the car (SE LR) to full, planning a journey yesterday. We drove about 100 miles, and, as charging closer to home is rather expensive, thought...

Company Car - Relying on public charging

We're in a less advantageous position than you are, also unable to charge at home, (we're off-grid) and the nearest charge point is 7 miles away. The next nearest is 45 miles away. We've done several longer journeys in the last few weeks and the only problems we have had was yesterday (I'm about...
