I think we have been around this loop before....
It seemed to be agreed that regen does not work in ACC because the ZS was designed as an ICE car where obviously regen does not exist. It is also quite difficult to try to 'add in' the regen facility to an existing ACC.
Why kidnap the dealer, they tend to know nothing about the car!
Like Pollenface, I purchased the cheapest EV I could find and after 4 years and 25k miles, I think it is a great car.
I am not fully conversant with the control electronics and software, but it could be that there is a safety loop in the software that has been tripped and not yet properly reset. In other words, the battery system is ok but the software needs resetting in the proper manner.
The motor repair system in the UK had improved immensely until very recently. The garages could get most parts same-day, and it was unusual for cars to be kept overnight after service. That seems to have changed recently - particularly for MG's!
Yes I have a spanner, but haven't had to use it.....yet! (after 4.5years)
It is curious that some cars seem to breakdown with software errors and others don't?
in theory I suppose one could us one heat/cool heat pump as in the common aircon/heaters found in properties. But this would be expensive and as in most vehicle applications, it comes down to cost/benefit analysis. There is nothing cheaper than a length of resistance wire in an airflow, even if...
But any heat pump is only on or off, therefore has to be controlled on a timed on or off which is not good as the heating goes from hot to cool to try to keep a stable cabin temperature. In a word, it is not a good system for heating a car.
